Problem: My passenger rear shock mount is bent outward
Cause: Slamming down on a rock

What I need advice on:
Is it safe to drive on if I hammer the lower shock mount straight?

-Does anyone make a weld-on lower shock mount reinforcement kit NOT shock skid?

^Rear driver shock mount for reference. Pay close attention to the metal section above and below the big shock bolt

^Rear PASSENGER shock mount. Remember the last pic? Look how bent out towards the wheel the shock bolt is.

A relatively small rock next to OEM 35's deflated down to 12psi.

Ouch that's not good. I believe there are replacement weld on parts for that. You could hammer it back TEMPORARILY and be fine but I wouldn't do that as a temporary fix.

I have done this mount replacement on a 2003 Grand Cherokee. It takes a lot of grinding and some welding skills, but the end result is a much stronger mount than factory.

Also, I am not sure if a hammer is going to be enough to get that back in to position. More likely will need a hydraulic ram or heavy duty come-along.

Would a shock skid not help with this? If not, how helpful is the skid actually? I am debating whether or not I need one.

He has a skid on there and, apparently, it did not help with whatever situation he put his Bronco in. Generally, the skids will work for regular wheeling.

@2020FordRaptor thank you for being the safety supervisor voice in my head. I needed that lol

@Bronco_joe I've been digging for this! Thank you so much. Gonna order and weld this up. I shall report back later.

@NJRoadkill I'm surprised there isn't a lot of weld-on reinforcement kits. In the Toyota world there's a ton of companies producing reinforcement kits for old ass Toyotas.

Thanks everyone for their second of time and advice

Here's some pics from the weekend where it all went down at the Soup Bowl at good ol' Rubicon :(

Sorry about the mount, I didn’t realize you were the one with the white wheels. Killer vibes. Did the rock sliders (RTR I think?) hold up okay?

I bent both of mine one side way worse than the other. You'll need to remove the shock to get access to bend the mount. Find a very large adjustable wrench because you'll need the leverage and the ability to fine tune where you want the bend. Apply a fair mount of heat (torch) so that you'll be able to bend it. Have an extra pry bar or anything for wedging to keep from bending the mount too far out. Use a bolt that is the slightly wider than the shock mount and wedge it in between to help you bend the mount if you pulled it out too far. Get some paint to spray the mounts after you are done because you'll probably gouge the mount a few times.
