This TSB he’s explaining is outdated.
Also there are no CDF drum issues with 10R60 transmissions. Nothing to worry about here.

If that bushing slides up it will apply to us.

I fix 10 speeds for a living. All day every day lol the 10R60 doesn’t have the bushing issue.
I attached the newest TSB for 10R60 vehicles.

“NOTE: The CDF sleeve repair is not needed for 10R60 and was intentionally not included in the Service Procedure.”

My Expedition just got back from the shop with a brand new transmission. They never said what the issue was and I didn't bother asking because hey, free transmission, who cares. It would sometimes go into neutral between a 3-4 shift, requiring you to get off the pedal and let it drop back into gear violently, there was a long hesitation between 6-7 I believe, and it had trouble staying in 10 and usually dropped back down to 9 after a while on the highway. They did mention that the pan had metal shavings in it, but the warranty losers told them to tear it down to failure anyway. I wonder if that's what the problem was. Oddly enough it had another problem with 4A engaging and disengaging the front axle so rapidly that it felt like a shudder, but it's completely gone with this new transmission. So much crap to go wrong with these newer vehicles that sometimes it ends up being a cascading effect.

Yeah all of that sounds like the CDF failure, especially the neutraling out and intermittent loss of engagement, that’s usually a dead giveaway

Any idea what people are looking at in terms of cost outside of warranty, for 10R60 rebuild or replacement?

I read someone quoted $7000 for replacement of a burned up trans from flat towing, but not sure if that included labor install as well.

$7000 had to be with labor and everything
Retail price is about $3,100 for a new transmission with no markup or any other necessary parts.

Labor will vary by shop rate depending on location, but I would guess roughly 12-13 hours without looking it up. So figure $2000-2500ish

I could probably get a closer ball park when I get to work. But that gives a rough idea.

Rebuild is a little harder to quote not knowing exactly what would need to be replaced. It would likely be cheaper though even with a much higher labor amount.

Seen a few 10r140 out of the superduty have the same bushing problem in our shop lately.

Never seen a 10r60 with this issue.

10r80 out of f150, every other day. Especially 2017 and 2018.

So the Bronco with the "weaker" 10r60 got lucky!

So what you're saying is these transmissions give you a lot of work  (JK)

Maybe @Ducati1098 can clarify, but my understanding is that it's not necessarily weaker, but is designed for a lower torque motor with lower gearing inside the trans to account for this. They are of the same family.

Well 10R60's not as much, but I've lost count a long time ago of the number of 10R80 rebuilds I've done.

They are weaker in some aspects, just like a 10R80 is weaker than a 10R140. Smaller parts, less friction plates in some of the clutches, etc.. but they hold up pretty good. There are plenty of very fast Explorer ST's with the 10R60.
