I have a Land Rover Trek event coming up in November in Carmel. Wondering if any locals here could answer a question on camping. I'm an East coaster not much knowledge about the West coast. Is cowboy camping doable in November in Carmel? No cents pitching a tent if not necessary. Thanks in advance.

yes you can camp year round in/near Carmel (expect some rain/fog in November…storms (wind & rain)usually hit Dec-Jan)…but there are not a lot of spots close to town that I am aware of…I don’t do much camping anymore…make reservations early…enjoy!

You could camp in the Big Sur area to the south where there are several state parks with campgrounds. However, reservations fill up fast and it might already be too late. There are other options to the north: link

Anywhere in the area is going to have some risk of rain that time of the year, and if it's clear then heavy dew. Temperatures should be in the 50s and 60s for the most part but could get down to the 30s overnight.

There are a couple places that don't have reservations, but the good spots get reserved at the six months out max early reservation day.

You can always check on empty spots in the morning at state campgrounds, but it's a crap shoot.

You will likely end up with soaked clothes whether it rains or not. I always pitch a tent.

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. Looks like tent camping. Sounds like boots should be left inside as well. Thanks
