I recently purchased a cargo hitch off fb market place for $75. I wanted one that folded up and I felt like it would hit the tire and I was right. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the tire is 11 1/2. I got a hitch extension with a 2 inch rise/drop and it fixed the issue. It folds up and leaves a inch gap. I also picked up a motorcycle carrier and it also was pretty close. The extension pushed the carrier out a good bit and leaves room for my dirt bike to fit nicely.

I was just looking into this. I have owned pickup trucks for 25 years, because I own motorcycles. Now that I have my Bronco, I wanted to find something to carry the bikes. Good looking out and great job on the pics. I may just buy a trailer though.

Good to see that a motorcycle carrier works, being able to haul my dirt bike has been a big reason I've kept my Tacoma so far, although loading into a 5 foot bed kinda sucks. Hows loading the bike onto the carrier?

Do a trial run on the freeway with the motorcycle on the carrier before you start a real trip. I had to use an extension on a Land Rover Discovery for a hitch carrier with a KTM 450, and the front end was scary light. The 2dr Bronco has a shorter wheelbase than the Disco did, so it could be even worse.

Yea I just got rid of my Tacoma for the this so I’m right with you. I got two carriers and a normal trailer just to make up for it. It’s super easy to load it. My enduro is pretty light so it feels fine but you always hear them horror stories about the things bending or breaking so I might reinforce it and weld a couple extra things on it.

Yea you can’t fully trust these motorcycle carriers. I’m gonna have to take a few extra steps to ensure it’s safe.

A word of caution, as I use the same setup for my bikes. The rating on that hitch is 350lb tongue weight. It is literally just bolted to a square frame member. Any weight puts rotational forces on that frame member. Also, the distance the weight is leveraged out there increases the amount of force the frame member sees.

If you have an ultra light bike, like a KTM @ 105KG, you may be ok. Anything over that I'd proceed with extreme caution.

I have a drop hitch extender like the one you are using (mine is a Thule). Those are only rated for like 250 lbs. No way I'd haul anything more than bicycles or light cargo when using it. Deff get a a trailer and a proper hitch for hauling motorcycles.

I searched the crap out of this site when I was trying to solve this problem and see if a Bronco can even comfortably do it. My truck got delivered on Thursday and that night I tested my hitch hauler on the factory tow setup.

Between the factory tow and the big 35" tire it was tight.

It actually fit up there but the gas tank was hitting the tire and the peg had to be folded. I actually scratched up the brand new beauty ring on the spare testing this.

My solution was this:

It's the Draw-Tite 76527 Max-Frame receiver. It basically is an extension without an extension. So only one anti rattle device is necessary to secure it and gives me plenty of space to hold the bike. Also increases the tongue weight to 675lbs vs the OEM hitch, but I still know that the tongue weight should be under 350 lbs because of suspension squat and leverage. I would guess between my lightweight rack and my bike that's probably 260lbs it definitely squats the rear a little but feels great on the road. I drove about 5 hours total to FRO and back with the bike on and it did awesome.

Here is how it looks loaded up:

Bonus points for being able to lay the bike on the tire while getting the straps setup.

The only downside is you need to be aware it's there when you access the cargo area.
