Carplay/Sync no audio intermittent issue

1/10 or so times my wife's Bronco will show Carplay playing audio, but there's no sound. The only solution is to disconnect and reconnect the phone. A reset of the unit doesn't help.

Is this a Carplay issue, Sync issue, Apple issue? Any input?

I've also had this issue with Wireless Apple Carplay in my 23 badlands. The connection shows music is playing but no audio. I'm gonna send a PM to ford to see what they say.

Delete the phone from the bronco, and the bronco from the phone, and re-add.

Confirm the issue happens on another device.

take it to the dealership to start evidence of troubleshooting. There might be updates to apply that aren’t coming OTA.

I have had this issue to and need to take it to the dealership again to let them know it’s still happening. I was told that if it keeps happening they will eventually replace the unit or modules.

taking it to the dealership under warranty is important. It creates a cost incentive to fix the issue.

It’s a known issue with a recent Sync update, a fix is expected before the end of the year

Same issue with my 22 Badlands. Rebooting the phone usually fixes it for me. I’ll mention it when I get my 10K service next month at the dealer.

My CarPlay was not connecting any longer after updates (Ford and IOS). The Apple forum suggested disabling Voice Control (Settings-Accessibility-Voice Control). I did that (and upgraded to IOS 18.1) and was able to reconnect again - (so I'm not quite sure which fixed it. :( )

I get it in my 24 as well. Not all the time, it does happen. Sometimes it won't connect or it does connect and it doesn't play music, or it take a while for it to connect and load.

Happens in Android Auto as well, right after I take a call....current song plays, but very low...next one is ok.

Same here. Isn’t there supposed to be a fix coming this quarter?
Unfortunately, not anymore. This new SSM was released to dealers a week ago saying the magic APIM update is not coming until Q1 of 2025.

Edit: I will say this: The latest APIM update 10.1.0 (Sync 24147) fixed the issue where the audio goes quiet as mentioned by the OP in my truck. I use Android, but the issue is not related to either phone platform....it is for sure a Sync thing.

Put music on jump drive, put drive in USB port, listen to music without any issues, anywhere, anytime, in any modern car.

Aww sad, but I probably should've had less faith.

24147 definitely helped but it still happens occasionally with CarPlay. Keeping my fingers crossed
