CEL after just 3 miles on brand new Bronco -- Turbo Waste Gate stuck shut

Not a good day. Drove 3 miles off the dealer lot and got check engine lights! Bronco was returned same day after I signed all the paperwork.

Just venting now. Appears to be bad turbo waste gate stuck shut according to Ford Pass.

Unfortunately new parts fail as well. Although mine didn’t effect performance, I had a defective AC recirculation motor BEFORE I drove off the lot. The dealer got it taken care of quickly and no issue since

Looks like Ford Pass was reporting Power Terrain Malfunction then the Turbo Waste gate issue popped up. I’m guess one or both turbos needs replaced.

At delivery here's my list of things I'll ask the dealer to include in their PDI. Most of these are already iincluded I believe

Brakes
- please thorough check
- & vacuum-assist boost proper function

Turbo Wastegate
- in closed position, & proper function
- anti-seize lubricant ?

Electrical Connections
- ground bolts in fuse box
- fuses secure
- battery terminals
- other ground bolts

Wire-Harnesses
- connectors fully engaged & secure
- clamps & clips in position - ( for example, in some cases the transfer-case wire-harness was rubbing driveshaft, b/c missing clamp )

Hoses Secure
- fully engaged w hose clamps sprung
- hoses safe distance from moving parts - ( in some cases a belt-pulley ruptured a nearby coolant hose, b/c missing clamp )

Belts installed correctly & proper tension

Waste gates need replaced. On order now could be a week. They wanted me to keep driving it told them no. Store at shop.

Not so bad if it ends up only being out of commission for a week or so, but still……after waiting 2 years only for your big day to be ruined I feel for you.

All these disappointments will be a distant memory when you’re bouncing around the snowy range/mountains on a hard to find 2 track trail and looking down on beautiful Laramie.

Well quick update. Dealer is doing the right thing and taking care of me for some pieces in my contract. The waters are eased. Just waiting on parts now.

Unfortunately these vehicles throw plenty of codes, some important, some go away, you'll get used to it.

Forscan is a good investment.

One of my many concerns about the Bronco I ordered in PA and hope to drive to NC the day I pick it up...
