Interior Trim Remover

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Remove the gear shift knob lens.
   Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover

1. 1. Remove the gear shift knob screw,
      Torque: 53 lb.in (6 Nm)
2. 1. Remove the gear shift knob.

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Gearshift Lever
Removal

1. Remove the floor console.
   Refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).

1. Remove the gearshift lever boot.
   Refer to: Gearshift Lever Boot (308-06 Manual Transmission External Controls - 7-Speed Manual Transmission – MT88, Removal and Installation).

1. Place the gearshift lever in NEUTRAL.

1. Remove the gearshift lever retaining nuts and grab handle support bracket.

1. Remove the gearshift cable bolts.

1. Disconnect the gearshift cables and remove the gearshift lever assembly.

Installation

1. Connect the gearshift cables and install the gearshift lever assembly.

1. Install the gearshift cable bolts.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. Install the gearshift lever retaining nuts and grab handle support bracket.
   Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)

1. NOTE: This step is only necessary when installing a new component.
   Remove the gearshift lever locking pin and discard.

1. Adjust the gearshift cables.
   Refer to: Gearshift Cable Adjustment (308-06 Manual Transmission External Controls - 7-Speed Manual Transmission – MT88, General Procedures).

1. Install the gearshift lever boot.
   Refer to: Gearshift Lever Boot (308-06 Manual Transmission External Controls - 7-Speed Manual Transmission – MT88, Removal and Installation).

1. Install the floor console.
   Refer to: Floor Console (501-12 Instrument Panel and Console, Removal and Installation).
