Recently changed mine (long overdue) and figured I’d share for this not familiar with doing this or just wanted to see what it entails.

Old plugs look pretty damn good, looks like they could have lasted a lot more miles easily.

I still have problems with this thought process. To many nightmarish 90s plugs when they moved from 40k~50k mile service. I say pull and clean at 40k.

interesting, I saw many people post about theirs having misfires and such because they waited too late.

60k isnt really a bad mark to change them. Its more preventive maintenance at that point. Figure this, if you dont do alot of miles yearly it could be upwards 10 years before you, or most for that matter, would be changing them. At that point your looking at boots oxidized to the plugs, dry rotted boots breaking on removal, and rust on the plugs which can lead to issues.

What I've seen recommending plugs at 60k or 5 years is the beginning of those issues but also catching carbon tracking before it becomes an issue. Just because something isn't bad doesn't make it good. Just my 2 cents working as a tech.

I dunno, I did mine at 50 - the plugs didn't look bad, but definitely noticed a difference in idle smoothness and got a small MPG bump from it.

So.. I didn't ~need~ it, no misfires or anything, but it certainly didn't hurt anything. My plugs looked a bit worse than the OPs, but not awful or abnormal.

It's like a filter you can change it weekly if you want, and it will not hurt anything. You must remember though that you are throwing money at replacing something that is perfectly good with plenty of life left in it.
