Yeah you can ignore it but what is the lesser of 2 evils? Ignore it and get hassled or just pay the $100. I ignored tolls I got from a state that couldn't even get the name right on the bill. I told them no one by that name lived here.

Since this has devolved into a "ridiculous ticket" thread...

Last year was following a cop with ACC set. Speed limit was 25. Then changed to 35. Just as we pass the 35MPH sign, cop pulls over, lets me go by, then gets behind me and flips on his lights. The reason for the stop? "Doing 26 in a 25."

I told him my ACC was set so I was doing the same speed he was doing. "That's because I was speeding up after the 35 sign but you were still behind it"

"you see," he went on to lecture me, "the speed limit does not officially change until you reach the 35mph sign so you can't begin to speed up before that point. But you did."

He even gave me a clever rhyme to help me remember that in the future: "The sign's the line". (he beamed with a prideful grin while reciting it as if maybe it was his own invention or something)

No shit! Like I was a 5yo or something. I was half expecting him to have some kind of tele-tubby dance to go along with it.

Fortunately (for him) he did not actually give me a ticket rather let me off with only a warning and a great story.

Too bad. Fighting that ticket would have been my sole focus for entertainment for the next few weeks in my otherwise dull existence. Win or lose.....I would have "won"....of that I could be assured.

Got this picture of my Bronco from a sheriff’s office in Tennessee. They want $100 for their photography services.

Have you considered debadgeing and a spare wheel cover from a Jeep?🤣😜😜

that would confuse them.

Yah, I got one of those years ago on Christmas Day. So now when I'm in town I slow down to 50MHP in the fast lane to jack up traffic under the camera to cut revenue down for a few minutes. lol

Thankfully in Alberta and Ontario Canada they are now banned and labeled as money grabs except in school and construction zones as supposed relief from an overall 52-75% personal tax burden LOL
Only speeders get tax relief, sounds like a great plan. Getting a citation by cam is only allowed in some states. Honestly after getting hit by a red light runner, I changed my opinion of the practice.

One of the reasons dumped the HPP Mustang convertible with no overhead airbags, and got Bronco.

Ticket cams should be at all lights, school.zones and active construction zones.....very reasonable and safety driven.

I am a retired administrative Captain, and was one of a group of LE executives who lobbied our State Reps to enact laws that:

Make the Infraction a ā€œcivilā€ violation.

FYI, if you fail to pay, they cannot report it to the credit bureau, insurance, or have any impact on your driver's license record.

If you fail to appear, all they can do is file a small claims suit. They will not do that, because they can only collect $50, and they will spend hundreds trying to get you to pay.

If you fail to pay, you will receive a letter from a law firm out of state, like Dewey, Cheatem, and Howell, which will threaten you.

Just disregard. I have gotten about 10 of these, and never paid them.

PS, make sure these are the automated camera tickets. By law, there must be a disclaimer on the ticket listing the information I provided.

It should be in bold uppercase letters.

Unless your state is different, my guess is you chose not to post the driver photo?

In my state (OR) when you get a photo ticket, you get a picture of the driver and one of the rear of the vehicle with the license plate.

Only way to get out of it is claim that the person in the photo isn't you. And they you have to explain who was driving your car or claim it was "stolen" to get out of it.

Yeah, it said it was produced by a ā€œphoto speed monitoring deviceā€. The photo was reviewed by a sworn officer who signed off on it after reviewing. It has a civil offense disclaimer and says no points, etc. Then I saw Virginia code listed in the fine print.

It turns out the Chattanooga, TN address it was sent from is just their processing center. I looked up the county and location on a map and it was actually Virginia, way down in the ā€œbird’s headā€ on Rt 81, not far from TN.

I don’t like loose ends in my own state, so I’ll make the donation.
