I live in an HOA in tn and we have dark sky policy with no street lights, and no flood lights on house. when I back in my driveway I could use a bit more light but don’t want to get involved in fancy lighting on spare or bumper. Now having said that can anyone speak to Cree ares led bulb to replace existing halogen as advertised on F150led site.

I know you said no to anything on the spare but the diode dynamics kit is worth looking at. I got the SS3 sports and they are plenty bright for reverse lights. Swap two of the spare lugs and it’s two connectors super easy to take off if you need to
Also just a jumper off the taillight harness, took me maybe an hour to install

I'd stay away from F150LEDS. I purchased a HUD from them last month and offered some constructive criticism/ customer suggestion. Boy, they wanted none of that.

I'd go with the super cheap, and easy install option of the Diode Dynamics C1R. I purchased this two days ago, and it arrives today. Purchased mine for $170 with free shipping and installs in about 10 min. That's a No Brainer. Picture below IS NOT my Bronc but will look the same on my Raptor.

Morimoto (and a bunch of others) have lights that can go on your license plate for boosting your reverse lights.

Yep, signature lights you can’t use those bulbs.

I bought a pair of these from F150leds

https://www.f150leds.com/collection...-spartan-series-cree-led-reverse-bar-kit-pair

installed them as per their install video and hooked them up to my reverse lights, they were a great improvement over the stock reverse lights

and since I installed those I swapped out my rear bumper and it has two lights that I put on one of my auxiliary switches so now I have plenty of light backing up

What model number did you purchase? Let us know how it works on the hitch - enough light? - trailer warnings? Saw this on the DD site: "Some newer trucks feature advanced trailer safety systems that automatically detect when a trailer is connected. To ensure compatibility, each HitchMount kit includes an optional red wire that can tap into your tail light’s brake signal, preventing trailer warnings or dashboard alerts for hassle-free operation." Looking forward to your review once you receive and install. :)

Thanks! Yeah I love them. They are backlit red when my lights are on. You can also hook them to your aux if you want (I haven’t) and they also come on with zone lighting

Keep it simple! If you want something that actually makes backing up easier, consider a license plate-mounted backup light or small low-profile pods (like a 2” size). They'll give you way better spread in reverse, more controlled output, but still a super clean and low-key install. Something like a small pod (Vega 2 size or similar) is honestly perfect for this exact use case!
