How do I get my 2021 Bronco Badlands out of Deep Sleep Mode? Every time I turn it off, I get this message. See attached.

Sounds like new battery time.....

I would have your battery tested to see if it is holding enough charge.... The batteries in these do not last as long as the batteries in cars of old even though the batteries are much improved. The drain all these electronics puts on them is tremendous.

If you are only doing short trips - it’s possible that the Bronco isn’t on long enough to get a net positive charge.

My wife has seen this a couple of times on her Sport — most of her trips are just a mile down to the bus stop and back, and if that’s all she does for a couple of weeks straight the engine doesn’t get enough run time to overcome the electric draw from starting and all the one board electric run crap for really short trips.

The first thing I would try it out a charger on it and let the battery charge to full that way.

If that doesn’t work - either the battery is bad (most likely) or bad alternator (less likely but possible). There is a remote chance you have a wiring issue with a constant drain as well - but usually it’s just a sign of a dying battery.

Put a charger or battery tender on it.

Watch this on how to charge with BMS.

Great video. BMW has essentially the same thing which raises a question. In their system they want you to replace the battery with one with the exact specs. Reasonable but it's also their way of locking you in to a $500 version of a $250 battery. I like Odyssey batteries but couldn't find one with the exact spec. Had 850 instead of factory 750ish CCA. Luckily my service manager was cool and told me I could swap factory for the Odyssey but I needed bring it in for them to program in the new specs so the BSM functioned correctly. I timed it so I was in for an oil change and they programmed it for free. As free as BMW oil change . Is the Ford system constrained the same way? It seems it would be but this community is way sharper than I am.

I don't think so - at least I've never heard anything about that.

There is a setting (at least buried in Forscan) for a normal lead acid battery versus AGM - it changes the charging algorithm I presume. So I would think, as long as you are sticking to AGM (which is what the OEM battery is) and you get enough CCA on it, you'd be ok - it doesn't need to be identical.

I can say I've changed batteries in F150's, the latest model being a 2019 - and I didn't even pay attention to that and it still starts and runs ok, so... take that for what it's worth

Well I figured the problem out. When I deleted my phone from the phone list a few days ago, and reconnected it again, it somehow reset the Deep Sleep mode setting. I haven’t had a problem since. I’ve also checked my battery and it was good. Weird!
