ELI5: How to use search function?

Rather than ask questions I'm curious about, that I know have been thoroughly discussed ad nauseum, I'd rather find the answers in the forum. However I've been a forum member for a couple years and still don't know how to use the search function. Can anybody explain it to me? Specifically on the mobile safari app.

For example, when I want to browse threads related to "commodity restrictions", all the search function does is find recent comments with the words "commodity restriction" in the comment, in threads not even related to it. Not helpful at all.

I wish it was more intuitive.

Only if the threads are titled accordingly. Which is rare

Sometimes it's easier to just do a Google search and then add Bronco6g to the end of your entry.

A good way to do it (for any forum, for that matter) is to go to Google and type in “site:bronco6g.com” and then your search words. That way, you can put phrases in quotes, like “commodity restrictions” and it will search this forum for that exact phrase.

The results will look like this…

BTW, I agree the forum search function should do that automatically, but this one doesn’t work well for that…

Hmmm, using chrome .. when I open the search box, one of the options is "google" ....
enter your terms in the 6g search box and click the google button and you'll get the results shown a few posts above.

Ha ha! I never even noticed that button before! I’ve always done it the old fashioned way, but yeah, that’s the ticket right there…

Yeah, just start a new thread on the main forum and someone will be along to post 5 or 6 relevant threads you should have looked at first. Quicker than search.
