Awesome post. My partner and I are actually planning on doing something similar in December. Driving from LA to Seattle in 2 days up the 5, then spending 2 weeks going from Seattle back to LA along the coast and going down PCH.

The 5 is a very lonely boring drive through endless farmland, the 101 is slower but way more interesting. If you could spend a 3rd day, Id shoot for the 101. 395 is another alternative thats way more scenic, pretty sure thats what Im going to do when i head back to Oregon next month.

Yep, that’s the point LOL. Don’t want to spoil any of the beauty that will be seeing on our way down. So basically going up the 5 for two days bored out of our minds, then wonder the beauty of the 101 and PCH on our way down haha

We did a 5000+ mile road trip in September. 2 weeks to drive from Oklahoma to Bend OR, stop in Eugene for a wedding and then over to Florence, OR and down to Trinidad, CA. Google Maps said 6 hours Eugene to Trinidad. Ended up taking us 12 hours as we stopped everywhere we could.
If you missed out eating at Bandon Bait in Bandon, OR... go back! Best seafood I had the entire trip. Literally a bait shop on the pier with a kitchen out the back. Heard people say they drove over 3 hours just to come eat there.

Ooohhhhh ok well you will definitely accomplish being bored out of your minds lol! I like the idea though! You'll have a blast on the way down, the Bronco was so in its element!
I dont know if this is true or not but I guy I used to work with said the DOT leaned from building the 5 that its bad to build highways so straight for so long because people get bored and fall alseep. lol! Bring a red bull or two with you!

Funny, we go fishing out of Bandon quite often when Winchester Bay isnt passable, we usually end up at Bandon Bait afterwards.
