Yeah, and the backwoods of a southern state (which I live in a southern state, BTW).
If it was a bullet, then there would have to be another tell-tale of it, I would think. To get a shot at such a glancing angle to shatter the glass (in a moving vehicle no less) and show no hole in the inside of the vehicle would be remarkable, to say the least!
Pellet or BB gun maybe?

More than likely just bad luck. As mentioned above it's happened once on a Bronco already and I read frequent accounts of glass randomly exploding on other vehicles as well.

The temperature was about 55 degrees at time of explosion. Lows the night before were about 45. Bronco sat outside that night, like all of its other nights I have owned it. The high the previous day was 68 degree,

And yes, privacy glass on the back glass.

I have not added anything to the Bronco other than a frame hitch.
I have also changed the oil and rotated the tires. I do those myself.

8250 Miles. Received from the dealer in July of 2022.
I am a July 23, 2020 orderer.

Another great story:
My Bronco was delivered with a punctured seat cover. No worries. Dealer saw it and ordered the correct cover to replace my damaged cover.
We waited 3 months(!) for the new cover to come in.
I got to the dealship we bought it from for replacement.
An hour later, I learn that the new cover is not the correct cover to match my interior!!!!
3 MONTHS!!! Wrong cover.
I drove 45 minutes to the dealer. Sat for an hour.....wrong cover.
Could they not open the box the new cover came in, and checked it against my VIN?!?!?!?
My patience is wearing thing.......

This does just happen sometimes. This summer the sunroof on my 2019 expedition just exploded for no reason while driving. Cloudy day about 75F out. A hole in the center about 5" and cratered up outward. Have full zero deductible glass ins. and didn't bother try the warranty. It did take 2 months for the glass to arrive at ford dealership for the glass company to install which took them about 15 minutes. They charged the ins co $1100 part and $1000 labor.

They owe you some sort of compensation. More Ford Pass points - Yay! (not).

Years ago while in the process of restoring my 70 Mach1, I was carrying the passenger side window across my garage when it simply exploded into a gazillion pieces.
[/QUOTE

My first car was a '70 Mach 1 (with the 351-4v Cleveland). I traded it in on a used Z-28 at Battlefield Ford in Manassas in 1987.... one of the dumbest moves I've ever made.

This is a surprisingly common defect across makes and models. I've seen pictures of it even on dealer lots. Tempered glass I believe is under some kind of internal pressure/tension and if there is a defect the window can shatter for no apparent reason. Usually there is some kind of "infant mortality" that happens in the first year or two of ownership. No idea if they will warranty it but technically they should.

If the bullet was near the end of it's "flight" it could have hit the glass enough to shatter it and then fall to the ground.

That said, I do recall, maybe 6 months ago....another Bronco owner having the same issue as yours.

My Wife about a year ago was driving her Ford Transit Van and a small rock (the chipper type) hit the front windshield hard. She was the only one on a long off ramp. No other traffic in front of her, behind or even on the merging highway. No traffic anywhere. To this day we cannot figure where this rock, in flight, came from. It was near an airport so one theory was it fell off a tire from a small plane. Who knows. Weird crap happens.

I would turn it in as a warranty issue, describing how it happened and lean towards the binding/flexing argument.

I would stop with the bullet theories.

Tempered glass is under stress and the back window does not appear to be a laminate. On top of that Ford made it as thin as possible to save on weight.

Tempered glass can just sometimes explode, not only in cars but pretty much everywhere and anywhere tempered glass is used. I have friends who had their tempered glass in their PCs explode randomly.
But considering you had the Bronco for 3 months now and already driven 8000+ miles on it Id say its wear and tear. Consistent temperature changes and bumpy roads can slowly put extra pressure on the glass, especially when done in such a small time period.
