Howdy all,

As I look at my 2022 OBX 2Dr, I just can’t settle with these wheels and tires. Blah. I’ve been thinking about what I’d prefer, and have sorted out some preferences, but don’t know about pitfalls, trade offs, possibly better ideas, and where to buy details. Here’s what I think I’d like, in no particular order:
* 34/35” Overall (Bronco is not lifted, but crash bars are removed.)
* Something with a nice AT tread, like the BFG K02. Off-road use Is beach/sand.
[Is this the best/good choice for road noise?]
* a 17” wheel, ideally lighter than the Ford 18”, as I expect the rubber will weigh more
* a very simple six (or maybe 5) spoke design that’s easy to clean, in gunmetal gray or lighter (Black Rhino Roku as an example)
[does anyone know what the Ford OBX wheel/tire combo weighs?]
* I’d like to get the Sasquatch fenders, and have the wheel/tire combo edges align. (Is this offset known?)
* Where (yes, I “check the Marketplace“) is a good place to buy?
* What should I be thinking about that I don’t seem to be? Gearing changes? I have the 2.7L.

I know. That‘s a lot of questions. Trust me, I know. These have been swirling around in my mind for far too long. Time to consult with the sages.

Thanks!

There are numerous choices for wheels! Some of the Favorites here are Fuel, Method and Icon.

All of these have a 17" wheel Gun Metal or Titanium.

For Example:

Method 703 or 705

Icon Rebound or Compression

I'm assuming you do not have the Sasquatch Package so a 285/70/17 would be a good size with the 3.73 gearing you have.

How about Ford Performance wheels off a Ranger with KO2'S?

These are 33" and they have stock 55mm offset so no poke which I prefer.

Howdy Stuck,
It’s certainly a consideration. I’d like those wheels more if they were just simple 6 spoke (not split six), but you know- tastes run the gamut. I’d also like to get a bit more offset, to align with the Sasquatch fenders. How do you find the road noise of the K02’s?
cheers!

Howdy RGuest3,
Yup- you’re right that I don’t have the Sasquatch package. Is it a very complicated thing to explain why you suggest the 285 size relative to the gearing?
Cheers!

This doesn’t answer much but in terms of poke with the stock painted OBX flares (I know you reference changing to Sasquatch flares), here’s how mine looks using 285/70-17 Falken Wildpeak A/T (33” tire with no lift required) on Sasquatch wheels, which are 17x8.5 with +30 offset versus your stock +55 offset. I went with these versus the same size KO2’s based on reviews for road noise and comparable off-road capability.

Very little road noise with the KO2'S. Had them on my Wrangler and loved them on that too.

The 285/70/17 is not as tall as the Sasquatch Tire. There will be a perceived loss of power and performance with a larger tire than that with the 3.73 gears. The 285 is also not as wide and it will not stick out past the fender flares as much as the Sasquatch Tire as well.

Many have installed the Sasquatch Tire with the 3.73 gears in their truck. They say it's fine. It's not nearly as good if they had the Sasquatch 4.70 gearing. There is a reason why the Sasquatch Tires are paired with the 4.70 gearing from the factory.

These are nice. They come in +25 so not too much poke.

Usually the Automatic and handle the taller 3.73 gear ratio easier.

I have almost identical setup.. 295/70r17 on a 9" wide wheel but with -6 offset. They stick out much further. My suggestion to OP since he wants to use sas flares would be to try around +12 offset.

A -6 offset is about an inch and a half more poke, so that makes a lot of sense. +12 splits the difference nicely.

Howdy Chris,
When speaking of offset, is +6 or +12 a specific unit of measure? What I mean to ask, does “+6” equate to an imperial unit of measure? My concern is that I’d ask for something that’s different and potentially unintended in certain scenarios, or between vendors.
Cheers!
