Installed black lug nuts today. McGard OEM Bulge nuts. F'n Ford couldn't paint the whole wheel black. Had to leave an unfinished ring around the hole.
Next time I take the wheels off, I guess I'll black out the friggin silver.

Lmao this is hilarious. You’re complaining when you went from et style Oem lug nuts to acorn style? You do realize that the lug nuts you bought don’t have a taper flange with a washer like Oem ones right? Also that is the one arear that has contact with lug nuts why would they paint that area to only have it come off after taking lug nuts on and off?

This is what social media comes to. It always devolve into a bunch of people complaining to complain.
Don't you have something better to do than complain about people complaining?
My God Man.... get a life.

Read the post. The lug nuts I bought are OEM size. If you look closely at the stock nuts, you can see the unpainted area even with those. It's just not as obvious with the chrome nuts. They have a taper flange. I measured both with calipers and the difference is minimal.
Washer? What are you talking about. There's no washer.
This isn't my first rodeo. I've been working on cars and motorcycles for over 50 yrs. Never saw anything like this. I always get rid of the cheap factory capped lug nuts. Nothing but trouble.

How dare Ford not anticipate that the aftermarket lug nuts you purchased are smaller diameter than the stock ones, horrific- :censored:

Sharpen up the pitchforks...
You should get out your reading glasses. I said OEM bulge. With calipers the difference is about a 1/16 of an inch which would equate to 1/32 of an inch all around which would be almost un noticeable.

I would think paint under a bolt/nut would cause it to loosen over time as the paint layer deteriorates and the stud stretch reduces. Probably why it didn't come painted
That's true, but it's the flat area of the wheel around the flange that's not finished. No part of the nut comes in contact with it. These areas were probably covered by the rack the wheel was mounted on during the painting process.

Not really worried about it. Just found it odd that they would let them out like that.
