Hello all. My Cactus FE is on its way to the dealership. Super excited. What dealer installed accessories are other FE folks adding on? I'm going to have PPF installed after I pick it up.

My dealer is giving me the expensive mud flaps as part of the customer satisfaction program. Other than that, I’m waiting to get accessories until I get the free ford pass points. At that point, I’ll grab a Bimini top and maybe the cargo area cover. I’m scheduled for full Xpel stealth ppf the first week of December but that’s with an authorized Xpel installer. Depending on how late my delivery is, I might lose it for a week before I really get to drive it! 😰

I got the Bimini top, cargo liner, sill plates, ditch lights, and console vault. The dealer accidentally installed rock lights instead of the ditch lights, so I ended up with both. Getting PPF tomorrow.

Home sweet home! Other than some bad honeycombing on the front driver panel (I’ll post photos) it’s perfect. I do have some accessory questions that I’m going to ask about…waiting for my FordPass points to post first but holy cow do these tires grab and throw rocks. Not sure how long I can wait for mud flaps and/or side steps

Installed the Factory Warn Winch last night! It will work on a First Edition. Currently waiting on ADD to release their Adaptive Cruise Relocation Bracket so everything will work as it should but for the time being you can turn off the stop assist and parking sensors off in the NAV Screen and switch the cruise over to standard. As soon as I get the Relocation Bracket on I’ll come back and confirm it works. Doesn’t block any of the lower coolers.

Excuse my ignorance, but why would you put snow tires on? I get snow here (usually no more than 10-20 inches) but I found A/T tires work well- My Cooper A/T3 have tackled 35"s at a time easily.
Because there's a massive difference between all terrains and real snow tires.

I expect the Territorys to be adequate, but there's simply no replacement for a real snow tire.

You are lucky you snagged those Hakkapeliittas when you did. Can’t find them anywhere. Discount Tire called their rep for me and “he said” that they won’t have any in the US until next November. We get a lot of snow here in UT (not at your level) but they do a great job plowing the roads so hoping the Territory’s hold up well. There’s always the handful of days every year driving some canyon road where the snow tires are worth their weight in gold - mostly trying to get on the slopes for a powder day. :)

I actually didn't. My Bronco won't be here until January and I won't be doing as much winter driving as usual this year so I'm skipping the winter rubber until next season.

My mistake - another AK member posted in a different thread about getting those tires.

Alright, got some questions for my fellow FE owners (and soon to be owners) and curious what if anything you will be doing/buying.
  1. Side steps/runners - I'm fine with the SAS height but the wife and kids are finding it a little much getting in and out of the Bronco. Other than not driving them anywhere (tempting as that is)...is anyone adding side steps, runners, etc? I've looked at the Ford options, Rhino RB20 boards or DSS (all needing removal of rock rails) or the single Stirrup steps from AR that mount to the rock rail. Is anyone planning to add something similar?
  2. Mud flaps - the Territorys throw rocks like a champ and some mud flaps seem required. There's the $50 Ford option that needs to be cut to work with the rock rails (and may not fit the rear bumper?), or the more expensive Gatorback flaps that work with rock rails. Any other Sasquatch option out yet?
  3. If I add runners or side steps will those alone protect enough against thrown rocks or are mud flaps also recommended? (And I suppose depending on which side steps/runners are added the rock rails come off and then the $50 mud flaps will work...)
  4. Roof rack - any solutions out there for this? Still waiting to talk to the parts guy at the dealer about the OEM rack.
  5. Tow hitch/package - same
  6. How are your supposed MIC 2.0 roofs holding up? My driver panel (shown below) is all honeycombed and can see a faint pattern developing on the passenger and rear section. I'm guessing I have a mix of 1.0 and 2.0 panels.

1) Only person who can’t get in the Bronco is my mother-in-law. I’m okay with that. No steps for me.
2) I can attest to gravel getting thrown from the territories. I winced every time I heard that ping on my paint. Luckily no chips. I’m gettin PPF today to protect the paint. I don’t like the look of flaps so I want to avoid them if I can.
3) See above.
4) I don’t think I’ll. Get a roof rack. I intend to go topless as much as possible and don’t want the hassle.
5) I’ll definitely get a hitch at some point but more for the platform or bike rack. I have another truck to tow with. So I don’t need the wiring harness. I’ll keep an eye out for options though.
6) My roof looks about the same. I’m resigned to it. I consider it a disposable part. When it wears out I’ll get a new one. Probably the modular roof when it comes out.

  1. Getting the AR Stirrups for my wife. It IS fun watching her try to get in, though.
  2. I bought the Gatorback mudflaps from Varsity Ford. Expensive but worth it, IMO... Especially for a FE. Installed quick and look great.
  3. Definitely recommend PPF. My PPF is getting put on right now. Those Sas tires LOVE to throw rocks. Also, I seem to be a gravel magnet for things getting thrown AT me on the highway. Sucks.

Are you putting PPF on the whole car or just the areas prone to chipping?

I don’t really want a roof rack but it’s the easiest way for me to haul skis around and the top is on all winter. Although with the rack up that high I’ll need side steps to reach it. I’m not a fan of the hitch mounted ski racks, too hard to park with that thing sticking out but I may have to resign myself to that option. The wiring harness would be helpful for brake lights on our cargo box.

Did you get the flaps with the Bronco lettering or the bucking Bronco?

I’m putting xpel PPF on the whole vehicle except the tailgate. I couldn’t think of a good reason to put it there, so I saved a few bucks.
