But working part time- 30 hours a week- I was able to afford my 1970 Bronco with modified 302- headers, Edelbrock manifold, Holly Carb, dual exhaust out each side under the door and manual transmission 3 on the tree. That was my first fun vehicle. My second was a brand new Jeep CJ5- special ordered with a 304 V8, with manual 3 speed when I graduated college and got my first engineering job. Both of those vehicles were so fun, nothing has quite been as fun ever since- not even my 2022 Bronco.

It was close- I did a lot of wheeling in both. I am going to say the Bronco. The sound of the dual exhaust and headers- and shifting the manual transmission on the column. My best buddy had a 1971 Chevy Blazer- also modded with 33" tires. We would go 4 wheeling together back in the day. It was so much more fun back then- there were so many more places to go undeveloped. Oh....I left him in the dust- on and off road, LOL. He would get so mad. He traded the Blazer in for a Jeep Cj5 at about the same time I traded the Bronco for my CJ5- and we wheeled in the CJ5's.

I will add that I do love Broncos. I tried very, very hard to restore a 66 and ultimately failed- another story. Right after that I reserved my 2022 the morning after the reveal. If the current Bronco had the 5.0- and a manual transmission- it would be as fun as my 71. But if it did it would be 100K, not affordable- for me anyway.
