As much as I loved the Lightning, I think we give it too much nostalgia credit. It was amazing back in the day--in the parlance of our times--but by today's standards it wouldn't hold up sold-as-new.

I would love a new, updated Lightning, but the Raptor is as close as we're going to get.

But then, it's got the wt advantage, and since it's got Forced induction and displacement, you'll probably get more out of FBO than with the EB

Without SRT I really see no appeal for anything at the old FCA dealers. GM has completely killed their lineup, we don’t get 10 different flavors of LS from them any longer. And surprisingly Ford is coming to the calling and actually producing something worth purchasing.
European mfgs are all circle jerking each other’s 2.slow, and Japan is becoming just as bad.

We are truly headed into the Malaise era 2.0.

Makes me sad they killed off the FoST and FiST.

Sidenote, 5th gen Viper would have sold more if they also had a Roadster version imo, half a marketplace who likes the presence but also likes to go topless.

Agreed. Picture this, a 2004 SVT F-150 Lightning MSRP was $33,830. I shoulda bought 2.

I was lucky when I got a .50 cent raise to $8hr in 04. I suppose thats only 682 8 hour shifts.

Yeah a lightning is far more drivable in a turn than a freeking super crew.

I don’t see this as necessarily a bad thing. It could result in better products from the start. You shouldn’t have to get SRT versions to get the good stuff. Time will tell, I guess.

Ford excited me with the Focus R we had at the local car show, ant the previous SVT Contour. Anyways, they didn't know what I was even talking about so what they showed us was a Focus Wagon... Needless to say, I didn't buy one.

I had to force the dealership to let me drive one because they thought they were the same as the other Foci on the lot. I specifically said the black one with the SVT badge and no sunroof. I was only 21yo and I assume they thought I didnt know what I was talking about.
