Ford Performance Tune install in California?

I'm having the same problem here. All dealerships I have called have refused to install it. I've called a few shops including the one suggested earlier in this thread and one quoted me $1025 for the unit and install. Another shop said they couldn't give me a price over the phone.

I negotiated the price of the first install from Galpin Auto Sports to $920 which is about $720 for unit and $200 for install.

I did not expect to have to drive over an hour and pass 15+ Ford dealerships to get this tune installed. But I guess you gotta do what you gotta do...

How are you liking the tune? Noticeable difference and have you had it of road yet?

Did you try Villa ford in Orange? I've usually had good luck with them. Also maybe talk to the parts guys and then have them ask the service about the install instead of asking the service direct.

I did call and they said they are not a Ford Performance retailer so they wont install but I did just ask the service department direct. I ended up just having it installed at Galpin Autosports.

I just had it installed today and I noticed a little more power but mainly the shift changes are smoother. I also usually get around 19mpg on the highway cruising at 70mph but on the way home it was around 23mpg on eco mode which was very surprising. I'll test more to see if it was a fluke.

Total cost was $920 for the unit and install not including tax.

I will test it offroad probably next week in both 4H and 4L.

So far I am pretty happy with the tune.

I got mine installed at Chino hills for for $206. My butt dyno feels like its much more responsive from 0 to 30 and shifts better from 50 to 80. Otherwise its a huge difference from sluggish stock.

Just ended up getting mine done in the South Bay. The dealer did not want to do it, and I explained that I could just do it and pay them to supervise me lol. They ended up watching me do it at the dealer, and giving me a receipt showing the work was done for $0. Now I have something to back me up if a warranty issue arises.

Galpin Autosports did mine as well last month. $200. Another dealer I talked to wanted $425 or so to perform the install.

I don’t understand why folks won’t install it. It’s a Ford product. Do they just not have the experience?

I’ve had some odd back and forth with that dealer. Took FOREVER for them to identify which parts needed replaced on my Bronco. Five visits and dropping the car off three times.

So, did you just pay a mechanic 1:1 there to do it for you?
Also, where did you purchase the Ford Performance tune?

Capitol Ford has been pretty decent with me, but I haven’t gone there too much.

I ended up using Campbell Ford Performance. They were fast and friendly.
