Front Bumper Nut Plate

I’m trying to get a DV8 bumper on while using the original nut plate and nothing lines up. I mean I can get some of them but not all. So I need to switch to nuts instead.

What would people use that matches the threads on the nut plate?

I can’t see why the oem nut plate wouldn’t work as it lines up with the frame horns. If there is an issue its either your new bumper or alignment of the bumper.

Yeah it’s 100% the alignment of something but since I can’t muscle it in with 3 men today the rigid plate is getting scrapped for nuts.

I’ve read a few people having this issue in general.

The bolts go through just fine and I just can’t get them to all thread to the plate. Also the design of this bumper makes one bolt very hard to get to so if I can tighten from the rear it will be infinitely easier which means more likely to be torqued correctly.

Best thing I can think is take a bolt to the hardware store and get some grade 8 lock nuts and good washers.

Yeah talk about the absolute worst. If I had realized how difficult some of their decisions made things I might have chosen another look.

I found the nuts are bent on the plate , straighten them and run a tap thru them helps.
I still have one plate to reinstall cause I was in a rush last install.

Sounds right. Undoubtedly M12, and the pitch is fairly coarse.

Better off ditching the cheeseball nut plates anyway, they'll rip through if you put some decent force on the bumper.

Thanks I did what @Tricky Mike suggested and got rid of them. I need to back them out and apply red thread locker before I’m satisfied but it’s on there now.

I’m also going to try and engineer, then 3D print, some inserts for the hand holes on top.
