Gaming the system is causing the back log.

Do you THINK so many people placing multiple orders is causing a lot more back log on Broncos.

  • Yes

  • No, It makes no difference, Ford just hates me.

Don't blame the genuine buyer (leaving out those who are only looking to resell). Ford has not kept their word and changed the rules. I could be viewed as one of those who "gamed the system". But I only did what was in my best interest.
...
The original question and poll was not about blaming people who acted rationally to Ford's bait and switch system, nobody has blamed you or other buyers. The question is do you think it adds to the backlog. At best, no, it is even (assuming you cancel the remaining one and it actually gets cancelled, not likely, but possible), since that is not 100% of the case, it for sure adds to the backlog. That is on Ford. People are people and it was obvious that people ordering from multiple dealers would happen in some cases.

My second reservation was in a backlog so I nuked it as it was pointless, its easier to do a walk-in.

Why wouldn't you have multiple orders when you have no idea how many units a dealership will get.

I agree the multiple orders affects us.
I agree that the reservations and orders should have been $1000.00
I agree that dealer employees and owners stack their deck to get their own cars.
I agree that covid has caused these delays. No one wants to blame who deserves blame.
I agreed to change from EG to Hot Pepper because 4,012,987 people are ordering EG since it was announced.
I agree that my response is annoying.
I agree someone needs to confirm what mud flaps will work with the AMP power side steps.

I agree to stop now.
:)

P.S. I agree that I would like a Raptor... Anyone want to help us get one?

I've searched but couldn't find an thread on this. I know it might not make a huge difference, but I'm still blaming those people.

I ordered two. Don’t regret it one bit. My first is built and awaiting shipping. My second is due to be built mid April. If my first one comes in as expected- I’ll call the second dealer and cancel. He’ll have one for the lot or cancel it- up to him. I paid reservation deposits on both. I didn’t gameā€ anything. I did what I needed to do within the rules to get a bronco before 2024.

It's interesting that I'm reading about "playing the game" to get a Bronco, which I happen to agree with, if a person is willing to put in the work. What I find interesting is initially many buyers "played the game" and put reservations in with dealers who were advertising a good deal for the buyer within Ford's stated production rules. Fast forward 18 months and those buyers and dealers are crucified at times even though Ford and mega dealers changed the rules. Interesting how things play out.

I'll wait until my number is called with the reservation I have currently. If I get a bad feeling about my current daily driver (04 F150), then I might also find a more local dealer and play the game. LOL, until then I'll operate with patience. Good luck everyone!

Basically if people order multiples and only want one and allow the others to get built, that's a middle finger to the people still waiting. That's your right though, screw the others you got yours!

Ford has all of this info and knows how many have been reserved and ordered by name/Ford account. They could probably scrub to see if there are multiples under the same address but ultimately, don't believe these account for the majority of the issue. 99 is out of play so you can't blame them at least not until MOD top is an option. LOL

Orders going forward will fall under the name match policy so it behooves dealers to make sure the person that orders is the person that takes. Dealers need to stay on top of their orders and make sure they customers are still in and their orders are correct. If people are out, then the order needs to be cancelled out of fairness to everyone else still in line. Letting them ride and flipping them as an abandoned order isn't what Ford intended and adds to the log jam. Dealers will have broncos to sell at some point but not helping clean the order bank up just pushes that date out further.

I agree, the way they set this up unintentionally incentivized people, dealers included, to work the system. The biggest problem now is Ford not getting the stuff they need in sufficient quantity to build broncos and their lack of communication with dealers on what is holding specific orders up.

w $100 reservations Ford made it a circus - should have been $1000 minimum

and dealers see reservations as threat to their business - Ford moving to direct sales - so many of the dealers try their best to screw up the reservation holders
Explain that last comment?

As others have mentioned, you wouldn't have to try to game the system if dealers weren't trying to screw customers and Ford wasn't changing how this process worked every other month. I do not blame reservation holders for putting in multiple pre-orders in multiple dealerships because their primary dealership was being sketchy on pricing. If dealers were upfront on pricing, or if more manufacturers embraced the Tesla style of ordering/delivering, none of this would be a problem.

I tried to buy a Tesla, made an offer via email on what I wanted to pay and how much I wanted for my trade-in, never heard back from them. Great system for people with too much money.
