I was encouraged to share some photos of the Go Rhino Dominator Extreme D1 steps I recently installed on my 4dr Wildtrak.

Initial thoughts are mostly good. I do have some critical feedback though.

First thing first, install sucks! Get yourself some help and a lot of patience (or adequate amounts of your favorite beer). I did it myself and I'm no grease monkey so it can be done. I suggest searching YouTube for install videos that go over different methods that may work better for you.

I also think the design of the mounting brackets need to be tweaked just a hair. The steps are sloped down and away from the body. They function fine enough but they look saggy and in winter weather I'm afraid they might be a liability.

It should be an easy fix for the manufacturer, just add 4-5 degrees to the top mounting surface to correct for the "sag". The DIY fix will involve some sort of shims between the body and brackets. Probably an 1/8" will do, maybe 3/16".

And some pictures for those of you who are going to ask about Clarence... I used the leveling feature in my phone app to take these to get the best angles I could manage. It appears that they take about 5" away from the bottom of the pinch welds.

These do a great job of keeping rocks and debris off of the rockers and doors. And for basically the same price as OEM mudflaps they provide functionality for my family.

Kind of hard to tell but in that pic of the bracket with the pinch seam, it really looks like that is where your angle is coming from because it doesnt fit flush.

So either lower that bolt/bracket dow to not ride the edge of the seem, or put a spacer as thick as the seem so that your bolt bracket can be tightened down flush?

I see what you're talking about. The picture is actually deceiving. I was in the middle of trying to adjust the step when I took the picture so everything was loose. Nothing I tried corrected for the angle seen on the steps.

Did you apply some sort of textured tape on the bottom of your rockers/doors?

It looks good and seems to flow with the lines of the wheel wells…I was curious how good a step it is to get in the back seat. It looks like the step ends in the middle of the back door.

I wonder if the pitch is an intentional design ,kind of looks like it is. I was looking the same step. How mach easier is it for the family

These look nice and I am sure that with some ingenuity the sloping issue can be resolved. I recently test drove a Wild Trak and it had some after market or perhaps Ford side steps. I don't believe that they were the Ford Bronco side steps that come on the OBX. Anyhow, I was like Mr. Macho "I don't need no stinkin' side steps". Well it was a long way from the ground to step up to the rocker panel. I will be looking at installing some steps once I get my Wild Trak in the next century or so.

It's not ideal. The first time my boy got out he about fell when he hit the bar. But now that he knows where to step it hasn't been a problem.

Well considering my wife is 5'3" and my boy is under 4' it makes a world of difference for them. For me it's a bit much. It's only a matter of time before a crack my head I'm sure

Cool! I even see your Amazon review. Even more interesting some of the recommended products are similar tape for the door sills. Would you consider putting your second strip of tape on your door sills?
I have thought about it. I think it would work great. But since I did a not so great install the first time around I'm saving it for the inevitable re-do.
