Hey,

I bought and installed these power steps instead of Amp and now I am regretting it. Anyone have any tips on magnets? These steps utilize a magnetic switch for extending and retracting. Since these came from Stage3 with no instructions, I watched a few videos on installtion and no issues. Until the magnets. The override switch works perfect. I have looked at GoRhino's website no help, I have sent Stage3 a few emails, no help.

I am a journeyman electrician so I thought I was smart until now. Any thoughts or help? If you are close to Maryville or as we say Mur vil. I can trade OBD I programming for tips.

If they are anything like the Rockslides, there is a wired reed switch that you tape onto your door sill someplace. The reed switch is wired to the step controller, so that should be pretty obvious component, even if where it goes isn't so obvious. For the rockslides, they come up through one of the floor drains and then route via the door sill wiring, and you just pop them out near where they get taped on.

Then the magnet gets taped on the door, directly across from where the reed switches are located.

Quick check would be just taking the reed switch and holding magnet up to it, making sure the steps retract when ~all~ magnets are in place for that side, and extend when any magnet is removed.

If the reed switches aren't working with the magnets before you run everything, there may be an issue with the harness or controller.

Thank you...I just started checking each reed switch for continuity and fixed it...now. I guess I'm more annoyed at stage3 for no help I tried them for four days no response

Thanks again

@theQuietman: I know this is a few months ago that you worked on this, but what did you do to 'fix' the reed switch?
