We did the San Jacinto ridge from hemet to Idyllwild. Call the ranger to make sure it’s safe to go from there. When we got there they said the trails weren’t steady cause of water running under the trails and could cause a slide. We were lucky and nothing happened and it was a beautiful drive up. Nothing crazy easily doable.

there’s so many trails here. SoCal we are super lucky.Another good one I’d recommend is in Joshua tree, called old Dale road.
Great thanks, I'll check that trail out. I did the Old Dale Road back in January, its was super cold but very fun! There was another trail that went from the park right to the 10 fwy, but I don't know what it was called, but it was fun too, maybe 1.5 hour trip.

It was a great trail and we actually got some sun! Would love to see more trees though.
I would love to hit trails like this. I do not need them to be too technical. I would enjoy the view more than anything. Technical is OK too. Need to drive out there. My sister is in San Clemente and my niece is there too. Her husband had an F150 Raptor and just got a Ram TRX. I can't wait to get a ride in that beast. He has already upgraded the exhaust and other stuff. He got a tour of the Magnaflow factory and then they put it on for him there. I hope to fly out late this year or early next year. We were there in March of '22 for their wedding and the weather was prefect.

Yeah it wasn't technical at all, it was a glorified dirt road with some rocks here and there. There's absolutely no issues with getting stuck. Heck part of the trail I am sure a car could do it :) But further up, you needed an offroad just to go across some of the larger ruts in the road and sandy areas.

First thing I bought was mud flaps! got the rokblokz mudguards. They are removable so that was super awesome.

IMG_1046.jpeg
They're removable, but my god they are tough. I have rolled off an obstacle onto the front driver one and folded back onto the rock rail. It didn't care at all.

Congrats on the new truck and nice color. I did a similar trip from Granger to SF in Feb of '22. The gas pedal/speed modulation was a pain in the ass.

Picked up the truck at Granger then stopped in MO, OK, CO, then to San Diego. Stopped by along the way to see family and friends.

The first 1000 miles were kinda tough cause I kept modulating the throttle, not keep the rpm’s steady inorder to break her in properly. After that the adaptive cruise was AMAZING. so glad I got the Lux package and it made the really long drives really easy.

Entire trip I tried to use eco mode as much as possible, and averaged 18 mpg with Sasquatch package. Overall very comfortable seats, but I wish the arm rest was a bit higher and the center console armrest could extend forward. That would make it so much more comfortable for long hauls.

One thing I noticed and was really concerned with was going on gravel roads. At around 120 miles on the dash I entered a 2 mile long gravel road to visit some family and those tires were flinging rocks at the body work. I don’t have deep scratches luckily but surprised ford didn’t cover the area under the fender and above the rock rails.

Drive through mud, heavy rain and high heat and the truck did great. It was very easy covering long distances.

Part 2: Memorial Day off-roading trip to Idyllwild, CA via San Jacinto ridge trail (FS 5S09)
First of all, the trail is closed from hemet up so check with the forest ranger before going. We didn’t see that it was closed and the gates were open. So someone must have opened them. But due to the rains there’s a chance of mud slides. Luckily we didn’t face any issues and learned about it when we got to the top and went to the ranger station in Idyllwild for some camping questions. So just fyi.

This trail was easy, 3/10 and an easy start to off-roading again. Didn’t want to repeat what I did when I first got my modified 4Runner and went on a 9/10 trail. That was dumb lol.
The 35’s are soooo awesome. They eat up all the bumps and combined with swaybar disconnect, the ride was really comfortable.
We found some great spots to camp in the future and the trail got narrow in some places so got first pin stripes.

Then we hit a deep mud hole that was forming as water was coming up from the ground and it stopped a lot of trucks from going ahead. We assed the situation and added some rotted logs to get some traction and then position the bronco straight, both front and rear locker on and the bronco made it looks easy.
Love the trip! I’ll be picking mine up from Granger in the next couple of weeks and will be driving it back to the Riverside area. I’ll be stopping in Moab for sure. I’ll be packing some RockBlokz in my luggage to prevent the rock chips myself. Needed them anyway since I’ll be pulling a single axle travel trailer when I get back. Congrats! 23 Velocity Blue 4dr Badlands Sas, 2.7, MIC, Lux, Tow

Looks like we have twin builds. Have fun on the drive back and post the trip here. good call on the flaps. I am surprised i didnt hear anything about it before i picked mine up. if youre driving on gravel roads, those sas tires will pick up and throw them . My original plan was to do the off rodeo in moab on my way but my buddies heritage edition was delayed so it ended up being just me.

I don't understand.
Any savings would be negated by the cost of airfare and then driving back to California.
Unless I'm missing something? Is Grainger selling these for way below invoice or something?
I'm thinking it would have to be 5-6K below MSRP to even begin to make financial sense.

That looks amazing! Which trail did you do in Idyllwild? I’m looking for more trails to do in So Cal and that one looks nice.

I just went up the backside of Mt. Palomar this past weekend. It was a great trail and we actually got some sun! Would love to see more trees though.

Yes, Granger was selling them 1k - 2K below invoice depending on when you reserved it. Granger (Albert) developed a relationship with many of us on the forum before he passed away. The low price was just a side benefit in my opinion. They are the absolute best dealership I have ever worked with.

Exactly this. I’d say it was all Albert for me. What a great guy, may he rest in peace.
