How can water enter the engine?

Because in your other thread, dated a month ago, you had a pic of being stuck deep nose down. Then you deleted the pics and started a new thread.

Those pics displayed quite a level of recklessness on your part.

Quite frankly, I don’t believe people who delete photos and alter their posts. No wonder Ford isn’t believing you either.

I deleted them because at the time I decided better of it at that time. Ford does have those pictures. I'm not debating the recklessness part of it. The pictures I feel showed that the water was not close to being up to the air intake. It also showed the water level being +/- about the advertised wading depth. But being the internet they were drawing people focused on how stupid I was and not addressing my questions as to where the water came in. You're free to not believe me.

There's no way to know. I would say that it must have driven well enough for them to let it go as fixed. I'd assume they didn't check the engine since it ran fine and there was no reason to expect it wouldn't. literally everything points to the water not getting into the air intake.

The theory that it went in the intake, passed through the entire engine to the crankcase, all while running fine just doesn't 'hold water' harhar.

So when it went to the dealer for the alternator there was no mention of any other issues, correct?

Just about the only way for water to get to the crankcase via the intake is past the rings, and that's not easy.

Can we assume the air filter is ajar because someone took it off?

Yes that's not easy. Actually impossible. The amount of water in the crankcase would have definitely hydro-locked the engine if it had come in the intake. I did take the air filter off the day it happened to look at it. I'm not sure if I didn't secure it back on or somebody else also had it off. It's entirely possible it was me.

I'm certain was the 'caked with mud' air filter comment that got me denied. But nobody will walk that back.

If only Ford had an issue with cracked blocks on 2.3L engines that had the coolant leaking into oil.

Did it hydrolock or seize? ... or neither?

I dont know about the coolant level, but I don't think that had anything to do with it, since it was driven at least 30 miles before it seized. It didn't hydrolock, it seized well after the 'incident'

The cracked blocks are leaking coolant (water) into the oil.
Known issue, there's a service bulletin out about it
Fuck that oil up enough and it will seize the motor.
It will make the chocolate milk shake of death out of your oil.

Not water related. You stated that your independent shop changed the oil and then flushed it and changed again. What did they flush it with? Is it possible that they washed the bearings of lube? That would kind of explain the seizure after a few miles.
