I’m planning on ordering a 2023 basesquatch and contacted a local dealer to ask how many allocations they have and if they also have a waitlist. The dealer said they haven’t received an allocation number yet. When are they supposed to find out how many units they can sell? Or am I not understanding how the allocation process works? Thanks

That's not how it works. Well, not for Bronco anyway.

For limited production vehicles, like say "Raptor R" or a GT500 the dealership should know in advance of production how many allocations they get. For most dealerships, that number is going to be a big fat Zero, with only the large dealerships getting an allocation.

For production vehicles, where demand exceeds manufacturing capacity, the dealerships find out on a month to month basis how many allocations they have. How many they get is a complicated formula, but the key things are 1 ) how many Fords did they sell in the last few years, and 2) how many Broncos did they sell.

For 2021, most dealerships got about 1/4th of their orders as allocations. And then later Ford cut those back due to manufacturing issues. Most then got about 2x that many for 2022. (this excludes the small dealerships who got royally screwed over)

The questions to ask them are: How many allocations have you received over the past 12 months, and how many outstanding orders do you have.

saying they don’t care is tainted by the fact that you are upset that you have not received your bronco yet.

let’s pretend that your dealership does care. Do you think if your dealership cared it would speed up your delivery?

dealerships get a lot of shit but the reality is that they don’t make money until they deliver your bronco. Dealerships are at the mercy of ford producing enough supply to meet demand.

my dealer would not say what their allocation is, nor will they say how many are in front of me or how many they 22s have delivered. Nothing like a good honest dealer. They did tell me if the 22 i ordered doesn't come I go back to the beginning with a 23 order. I really don't think they care if they deliver mine or not.
