How much hot engine bay air is it pulling in through that mesh top?

It may pull in a little hot air when sitting still but as long as you are moving the air will be right around ambient.

How did your install go? Any gotchas? Is there a performance increase that you can feel?

I saw the Dyno Chart from K&N's website and it actually shows a performance decrease below 3.5K RPM.....I have to think this is just a bad dyno run or bad info. I would think there would be an increase across the entire RPM range, even if it's minimal.

Here is the 2.3 Dyno: http://kandn.com/dynocharts/63-2620_dyno.pdf

Vs. the 2.7 Dyno: http://kandn.com/dynocharts/63-2619_dyno.pdf

I have yet to install the intake im waiting on Panda Motor to do their install and release their dyno numbers.

In some instances it appeared that there was as much as a 60ft pb of torque loss under 3.5k.

Im hoping it was just a bad run. But we'll see for now the intake is sitting in my trunk till I get confirmation.

I’ve had mine installed for about a month. Much smoother acceleration and far less lag. I can’t offer any dyno type feedback, however, it has definitely smoothed out this little 4 banger.

The install took a bit longer than other intake jobs. more time was spent on removal of the factory setup. When you get into it you will see that the factory setup is crazy restricted.

I will suggest that when you receive/open the product, take a close look at the ejector tube. It is the piece with a near right angle and two connections for ejector lines. I just installed the 3rd one of these. Look closely at the right angle, you’ll see that the top is essentially a cap that is glued on. Make sure it is closed with zero gap. I’ve had two with a gap initially, both subsequently failed and resulted in a check engine light.

please check yours prior to install and contact K&N if you find an issue.

Is this the part you are referring too? Is there a visible defect? Or does it happen over time? Duct tape? ;-) I can't seem to find any leak so far....

@Cl1ckst3r

Yes that is the part. Hold up to a good light and check for gaps. Mine started with a gap and then within a couple hundred mikes the “cap“ area failed.

K&N has been very easy to work with. Panda has also been responsive.
