I know there are some Toyota/LC folks on here.

I just landed a job doing rural mail delivery. My vehicle doesn't meet the requirements from Canada Post so I'll be borrowing my wife's for now.

I've been looking at importing an LC from Japan for a while now. Now is the time to pull the trigger. The right-hand drive would be perfect.

Pros and cons of 70 vs 80 series? The 70 series looks the business but it's easier to find an 80 with lower mileage and a better pricetag. Should I just go with the 80?

Pros and cons of gas vs diesel?

That is the only one on my wish list to get yet, don't want the 60 series ($$) the 70 is probably what I will get but the 80 with all the goodies would be great but ($$) thing again...

Out of curiosity, what are the requirements from Canada Post?

Prices I've seen for imported LC's are pretty steep in the US - seems like a lot of money to invest for a work vehicle.

You can get them relatively cheap in Canada through a few different channels or self-import. If you buy one landed you will definitely pay more. The LCs always go for a little more but a Hilux Surf for instance will go for a bit less than an equal domestic 4Runner. The other difference is we can bring in after 15 years, as opposed to 25 years in the US. A 25 year old low-mileage vehicle in good condition is harder to find and fetch a premium. We have many more options.

Requirements aren't much. Basically a certain amount of cargo room, power windows, and an automatic transmission. My truck doesn't have power windows and only has enough cargo if I add a cap which would be a hassle to work out of.
