I have around 100 miles on my 2.7. There is the oder of burnt/melted plastic coming from around (I think) the engine and smells strongest around the passenger side.

I don’t see anything touching the turbo or exhaust on the side and no smoke or visual fumes.

any one have any ideas?

thanks.

Sounds to me like typical brand new car smell. This happens to us with every new vehicle. Of course I dont smell what your smelling but sounds normal

Mine does the same thing. I’ve looked 3-4 times for anything touching. Haven’t found the cause yet and nothing burnt up.

There is a lot of plastic under the hood.

I figured if wasn’t the only one it may just be off gasing of new plastic from the engine bay heat.

i now have 500 miles and experienced the same burnt plastic smell as you when I hit 250 miles. i chalk it up to normal new car break in period.

Ditto, noticed it most at stoplights. It disappeared after a couple hundred miles

I have never smelled burnt plastic in any new car, I've had 3 and this bronco

Off gassing is just new car smell, burning plastic is different

Is this the new normal?

I have a 2.7 in my f150 and didn’t smell anything, but It’s not a convertible.

As mentioned above, it is noticeable at stop lights

the 2.7 is crammed in a bit more tighter in the Bronco vs the F150

I had an odd smell with my 2.3. It went away and I chalked it up to a new car. It was kind of a hot plastic smell. I had a lot more miles on mine than yours when it happened. I think it may have been one of the (first) hotter days I had it and may have been related to the AC. No issues before or after…

Same for me. I was concerned too, but after 1,000 km I think it stopped. Wasn't overly concerned about it.

I also have a similar smell and have noticed it from day 1 when we brought the vehicle home. Currently just over 600miles and still smell it. Chalking it up to new vehicle off gassing… I guess.

My badlands with the 2.7 had that smell until about 1000 miles then went away. My new 2.7 blackdiamond has the same smell only got 300 miles on it. Funny my wife's 2.3 didnt have the burnt plastic smell nearly as bad as the 2.7 and it went away after a couple hundred miles.

Good morning! If you send over a private message with your VIN and dealership info, I can look into this for you.

I had this same thing and I posted the same question. If it persists past 500 miles I'd be surprised. Mine was the new car funkiness and now that the bronco is up to 1k miles the smell stopped. If my setting were max AC that's when I noticed it the most.

Someone recommended checking to make sure the wiring harness wasn't left unzipped and rubbing against a belt.
