If you don't have other animals around you wish to keep, an open bowl.of antifreeze will often collect rodents. So sometimes will your used oil in it's catch pan.

Had mice eat through wiring on our 335xi several years ago. Insurance covered wires, ecm, all 6 coils and injectors.

I park the Bronco in the garage and so far I've caught 10 mice since mid Nov with the good old snap traps. I was worried they might get to the wiring in the truck so I'll keep trapping them. Gouda and peanut butter has been working well so far.
I'll have to try the gouda. I've been having great success with a (small) part of a Tootsie Roll, FWIW.

Mine stays in the garage and I happened to see a mouse running by the wall last week so I put out a sticky trap Friday night. On Saturday I had 2 corpses then when I put a fresh trap out Saturday I could tell it was disturbed but no bodies only turds. The fight continues.

I have used this for the last 5 years. 4 on my old F350 and one in the Bronco. No mice since using it. Had to replace a large part of the F350 harness from those little ba$tards. Both vehicles are parked outside and I live out in the country.

Can you walk through where you mounted this in the Bronco engine bay and how you wired it?

On top of the 2.3L engine near the firewall, there is a black plastic cover with foam inside. It's a perfect mouse house. Mice got in there and chewed up the foam to make a nest. So if you have mice issues, keep an eye on that area.

Photo below shows the plastic cover with small opening where the mice got in and nested. I recall someone on the forum mentioned the assembly under that cover is part of the fuel delivery system.

I recently installed a Roush CAI and found this nest in the air filter box. No telling how long they were in there but I never noticed any drop in performance .

I had that problem on my Goldwing. Switched to oiled (red) k&n and put chicken wire 1/4 inch mesh over intake nozzle. Same thing .. no performance impact. Also use mothballs now..from time to time.
