@goatman2 lead a group of 6 vehicles through Poison Spider on 5-5-23 .
Attendees:
@goatman2 2-door Bronco
Felix808 4-Door Bronco
@El Diablo 4-Door Bronco
@Squashed 4-Door Bronco
Goatman's friends Jim & Sheri in a new Stock 4-runner
Goatman's friend Brian in a new Rubicon.
Goatman2 had us meet up at McDonalds at 8:00. After a little chatting, we rolled out to the trail head. the gate keeper woke us up pretty quickly. It consisted of large broken up ledges that had no easy way up & took some skill to navigate unscathed. With some careful spotting, we got everyone through virtually unscathed with the exception of the brand new 4-runner. A small scuff on the passenger rear molded flare.
The next major obstacle was the off camber waterfall. Quite the drop in . Everyone did great. The trail continued to offer steep climbs and more ledges with a few fun sand berms sections that offered burst of speed at times. Oh and don't for get obstacles like the Vertical wall V-Notch & 20 yard v-notch trench know as the Wedgie Only to be followed by even more ledge climbs and drops.
Don't for get the narrow drive around a huge crater known as The Giant Pothole. You do not want to fall into that one .
We stopped at a few overlooks that didn't disappoint and the Little Arch, but the old knees weren't having it to walk out to it
The trail is a loop so you get to go back & do all the obstacles all over again from a different direction but just as challenging if not more so.
At the end of the day the 4-runner had popped it's cherry and took the blunt of what little damage that would be incurred this day. Leaving with the previously mentioned small scuff & a fairlead roller that parted ways after an endo or more from one of the many steep drop ins. I had a small cut to the passenger front side wall but didn't penetrate so no real harm done.
it was a fantastic day with a great group!
Thank you again Richard for taking us out
More pictures to come if I can get them off the iPhone
Feel free to add pictures & comments from the ride .
