Hey all!
I was able to get a new Mod bumper from Ford parts directly.

I took it to my local dealer to get it installed.
The dealer is saying it didnt come with the appropriate hardware for the install and that it needs 24x Nut-Blindd Anchors at the cost of 6$ apiece. (Part: W700525 S450)

I dont see them mentioned in the online install instructions, so am wondering if this is really needed or if they are trying to squeeze me.

Any thoughts from anyone?

That’s a load of crap.

The only thing that holds the mod bumper on is four bolts and nuts connected to a thin plate to the end of the frame horn plates.

Looking up the part number, it specifically says they're included with the bumper. Just install yourself, the Bronco bumper is ridiculously easy to remove and replace. You'll know if youre missing anything if you do it yourself, and if you are take it up with Ford Parts as the bumper should have come with everything.

While I dont disagree they need to do a post install sensor calibration and airbag calibration (as noted in the bumper manual) and I realized I didnt have a torque wrench I could use. So I figured I would just shell out for them to do it all.

I did the rest of my work =)

Do you have a link to the quote you are seeing so I can look?
Thanks!

Gotcha. I did have to pretty much take that bumper apart to pull the parking sensor wiring harness out to modify it for my JCR winch plate. It’s just bolted together with torque’s bolts and goes together super easy.

But, also, the description for the modular bumper on Ford's website says:

Upgrade your 2021 - 2026 Bronco with the Ford Performance Heavy Duty Modular Front Bumper kit. This is the same OEM bumper, skid plate and tow hooks offered as a factory option.

  • Production level tested & validated to OEM crash standards
  • Kit includes
    • Bumper shell
    • End caps
    • Bumperettes
    • Reinforcements and mounting plates
    • Tow hooks
    • Skid plate
    • Intercooler brackets
    • Seal
    • All required fasteners to complete installation
  • Not compatible with front parking sensors or adaptive cruise control. Parking sensor compatible bumper kit M-17757-BMP also available
  • Factory LED fog lights from standard base bumper are not compatible or useable in this bumper

I also see where it says they are required to do a SW update to ensure proper airbag deployment, but I wouldn't worry about it - people swap bumpers on these all the time without doing any programming. But, if it makes you feel better, by all means go for it. Or you could even do the install then go to the dealer and just have them do the calibration.

I installed my aftermarket bumper without any form of calibration business. I know the front sensors work fine (rear ones are a different story). Haven't tested the airbags yet, but we're going to take our chances on it.

Yeah but I like to do stuff by the book when it comes to safety. I cant talk myself out of it.

I completely understand, but the safety thing always kind of gets me. First time I ran our Bronco without doors, I felt so exposed and thought "Is this really safe?" But I've never felt that way on any of the 15 or 20 street bikes I've owned in my life. Just kind of strange how we rationalize different things.

Ran my '19 Wrangler with no doors or side mirrors (legal in FL as long as you have the windshield rear view) and was so freaked out I went and got mirrors and never did that again!

Check with your local autozone, napa or other autoparts store - they generally loan out tools like torque wrenches for little to no cost. That way all you get stuck paying for at the stealership is the calibrations. When I did my Procal tune - I did 3 of the 4 steps myself that would've been an extra hour of labor at nearly $200 if they did it.

You could buy a torque wrench for a lot less than what the Ford dealership service is going to charge.
