Loved seeing the Bronco at the Houston auto show, finally was able to sit in it. The seating position is perfect. I’m 6’1 and the seat goes low enough that I feel like I’m sitting in it and slightly hugged Vs a Jeep that I feel like I’m sitting on top of in the seats.

The thing that kept me from bumping up to an OBX with the high package from my BD is the awful (in my opinion that’s based entirely on video) look of the dash. The brown cloth option looks pretty nice (kind of like the Bronco Sport Badlands with the Badlands package seat option), but the shiny plastic dash makes it look like a cheap copper attempt and kills it for me. The blue stitch against the brown leather option also looks off to my eye. Then I see stuff like this where the dash looks normal and it makes me even more puzzled as to why it’s not an option (there was a Bronco Nation video of a Carbonized Gray OBX a while back that has a gray dash with the brown cloth seats and I’d have been all over that if it were real). Anyone think they’ll calm down on interiors in 22?

PS thanks for a great report OP!

Love that Race Red Balands. I can’t decide if I like the black hood on the Rapid Red OBX? I think I’d have to see it in person.

Hello all, me and my Dad went to the Houston Auto show this evening and I snapped a few photos of the broncos. One was a tricked out outer banks model and the other was a normal Badlands (nothing special about it we’ve seen millions of photos of them) This is my first big post so please bear with me.

My takeaways:

The inside is spacious enough, I’m lanky 6’1 and I felt just fine in the interior of the 4dr badlands

FOR MY BASE PEOPLE (me included, 2dr base 2.3 manual), the bronco rep told me that you can fit 33’s on the base with a leveling kit. But the really interesting thing he said was that 2 dr hard tops are not affected by the delays (he said as long as I didn’t have the towing package and I said no and he let out a sigh of relief) because they become standard with the model. He said that “since it wasn’t an add on I should have no problem” He also said that because my order was so basic it would get built faster.

Now do I think he is 100% accurate? I don’t know. But I found it interesting.

ALSO:
I am really considering changing my color from carbonized grey to AMB. Here’s why, the ford rep asked me what my color was and I told him the grey. He then said “have you seen the AMB?” and I told him I was interested in it and he then told me to go over and shine my light on it. And omg it lit up like the cosmos. I really might change to AMB just because of that.

ALSO:
I while I was looking at a baby bronco one of the ford dealership reps started to talk to me. She said she ordered a badlands and she asked me what I got and I said a base with a 2.3 and she said that “the 4 cylinders are being built in september” Now do I trust these peoples “facts” I don’t know, but I feel like It’s right to inform y’all on what I heard.

All in all it was fun seeing some Broncos for the first time and I can not wait for mine to get here.

I really like the rapid with the black hood- first saw this a few months back and tried to call ford to change my color from black - it's really frustrating, with no build date in sight, that i cant change something like the color especially since it was prior to one of the change windows closing

I think what everybody is calling the OBX, is actually a Black Diamond. It has blue handles and the rock rails. Also the BD grill, just glossed. It does however, have the roast interior. So maybe an early FrankenBronco?

You need to go through your dealer to change. You can change your build until a VIN is assigned.

Black hood looks like they either forgot to complete the paint job, or an overseas replacement hood was bolted on after someone closed the original hood while a toolbox was a top the motor.
Blacked off section would be nice, but not the entire hood.

Nope, that is an Outer Banks with the modular bumper and the now factory accessory rock-rails for all models not BD or BL. The Roast interior option has the blue inserts in the grab handles.
