Ooh, down in Costa Rica, you can also buy a J70 Land Cruiser or a Suzuki Jimny.

Totally fine. Never even got to use 4wd....How did she handle the snow?
That would be a bad idea. Not trying to get thrown in jail. Here in CR, I have to wait until I'm a resident to get a firearm. About 3 years.Very nice....
You can be as careful as can be but I hope you are armed.
We are building a home on 5.5 acres. In the meantime the house in the photos is a rental.I've been thinking about doing this for quite some time! Plans on hold since I just remarried, but still a consideration. Did you buy your house or are you renting? I had picked Costa Rica as it seemed to have a good ex-pat community didn't require you to give up US citizenship. Is that true?
Pura Vida!Pura Vida! That's my mom's home country and all our family lives there still. I visit often and enjoyed reading about your travels. Thanks for sharing.
If you don't mind me asking why are you moving there? This is so cool. Alot of what you posted is actually what me and my wife have talked about as we are moving down to Honduras in a few years. I went back and found your post asking about what bronco to get as well. You considered alot of the same things we have. We’re just musing ourselves, and your out there doing it!
Sadly Honduras dosent have that nice residency situation for importing cars, so instead I’ve just looked at the brochure for the Bronco at the Ford Dealer in San Pedro Sula. We will be driving the same kind of terrain and geography as y’all and want to consider a Bronco as our fun vehicle. Obviously with a Toyota or something as the workhorse.
Any advice?
Me and my wife are helping with a nonprofit while we’re down there as missionaries long term. Finalizing the move in the next 2-3 years as it’s a process. We will help set up seminaries with a local group called MEPI that works in central and South America to provide training and teaching centers. If you don't mind me asking why are you moving there?
There are places you should avoid in those countries, but that's easy enough. Overall I've felt less safe in a few US cities, unfortunately...CR is a nice place but the countries in between would keep me from driving there. You're a brave man. Glad you made it safely.
Nicaragua was 3.5 hours in and about an hour out. I've heard stories of 5 hours or more.two hours to cross the Border from Guatemala to Honduras ?
Sounds like they have secure border enforcement down there! Maybe we (USA) could learn something from that.
