I'm about to make the Maryland to Vegas run in my Black Diamond in July for a military move. Glad to have your notes to help plan the trip!

Congrats on the Bronco! We live in Reno and made the trip out to Moab a couple weeks ago. We love driving out Hwy 50.
Maybe we'll see you around Reno/Tahoe.

One has to look really hard to find a bad photo op in Utah. Never underestimate the privilege we enjoy living in this amazing and beautiful country. As a life long Mid Atlantic ( MD) trips out west change one’s DNA. Nice Bronco.

Awesome write up. I just did a 2700-mile trip in mine. I was amazed how well the Bronco did on the road. Very comfortable, fun to drive.
Ford Bronco Westward HO! Cross-Country Delivery Trip in Base Bronco -- Maryland > Nevada Tri

I was happy with the mileage considering the vast majority of my trip was interstate. I found the sweet spot for my Bronco is in the 45-55 mph range. Mileage starts to suffer when you push it up towards 80. The Flying Brick affect is real, y'all. I have a 2.3l, 7spd.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing! How did it hold up to hail? I have my reservations about the paint quality on these newer vehicles. Ill add that we are in colorado and drive hwy 50 all the time. With 920 miles on the rig there were a hand full of to the metal rock chips on the hood and front quarters. I did a detail an cut/polish to the hood along with touching up the chips. Its going in for full front PPF and hopefully put further rock chips behind us.
A windshield chip repair kit is also going in the glove box. The glass at the same mileage looks worse than my pickup that has a 15 year old windshield on it.

@Kramku1 @MotoFish : The hail we got hit with was probably large marble sized. There are about 20 dings on the hood, and four each on the top upslope of the driver side fender and door (wind was coming from that way). Hard to get a picture, but this shows some on the hood:

Ford Bronco Westward HO! Cross-Country Delivery Trip in Base Bronco -- Maryland > Nevada hail

I'd say the hood dings are twice as deep overall as the door and fender. I am not sure the MIC top got any damage, but I need to compare it to another top to be sure.

Congratulations! That last photo looks a lot like Kingsbury Grade, up above my house. Mine had a blend date of 3/9, but it has not shipped yet. I'm picking it up in Park City and you have convinced me to take my time and come home on Hwy 50. It's a couple of hours longer, but it will be better for the break in and give me some quality time with my daughter.

Great write up and great Bronco, as mentioned the Base looks the most original, and since a Real Bronco's never came with stick shifts you nailed it with the auto.
