My '22 V6 Badlands wasn't built during the timeframe when all the valve issues were happening. I've had my Bronco for 3 years and 54k miles with no issues until recently. About 2 months ago my wrench light came on. I didn't notice any change in power. I took it to the dealer...they said there in no compression in cylinder 4 and their engine tech needed to look at it to confirm the issue. It's been sitting at the dealer for over a month but today they finally called and said the engine needs to be replaced.

Well, free engine after 54k miles ain’t a bad thing. And you’ll probably get a free extended warranty as well.
Any extended warranty starts from the day of delivery. So if it is offered, 54k miles is already docked from the total.

Any indication from the dealer on what caused the compression loss in cylinder 4?

If it’s 100k miles, that’ll be 40k more miles than he currently has left.
