First time ever doing speakers so it’s possible I royally screwed this up. I have the base 6 speaker system.
I purchased kicker KSC 6.5 for the kickers.
Hooked up the passenger side and it sounds worse than the stock driver side.
Passenger side.
Here is what I did:
Unhooked stock speaker and cut harness.
Hooked the 2 yellow to the positive on the kicker.
Hooked the green and purple to the negative.

Now it sounds worse than the stock.
Any ideas? Pointers?
Did I hook it up wrong? I’ve been out there messing with it for a few hours and having no luck.
I can’t even hook the stock back up since I cut the harness off.

Please note the tape is temporary because I’ve had to undo them so much. Am trying to get it right before permanently connecting them.

I've got the same speakers in my Base and they sound great. It could be one of 2 things: 1.) you have polarity reversed (+/-) and they're going to sound bad or 2.) they're now underpowered and your next purchase will probably be a Key200 amp to give them they power they need.

I’m pretty sure the positive and negative are correct. The other two wires I’m not certain.
It seems more clear than stock but much less base.

yep, they're likely underpowered then. these are built for higher power ratings. you will probably be happier with an amp in between or going back to the stock speakers at stock power.

I’ve looked at this for probably an hour and can’t figure out what it means.
It shows 4 wires going to the speaker but my speaker only has a spot for 2. So I put the two yellow to positive and green and purple to negative.

Is the amp plug and play. I have no clue what I’m doing here.

An amp isnt going to be plug and play. The thing about crappy speakers is that they are really efficient. They dont need a lot of power to sound good. Your new speakers probably have much bigger magnets and will need more power to sound good. I bet that is what is going on.

As a side note, when you reverse polarity though you do lose all the bass.

I think you might have it wired up wrong. Unless I'm mistaken two of those are inputs and two are outputs to the dash.

Yes that is correct. What do it do with the 2 outputs to the dash. I wasn’t sure where they hooked up to.

Don’t replace the 6” but instead only replace the 4” speakers. If you replace the 6” and expect better sound you’ll need to add an amp

I'm looking at the diagram and your picture and it looks like you did it right. the yellow would be tied together, along with the purple/green...

You are basically putting the yellows in parallel which are both positive and the purple/green in parallel which are both negative.

The instrument panel speaker doesnt have a positive/negative labeling though....We are assuming yellow stays positive?
