To your point Flip, if I don't take my truck in for the rear cam recall(it is working just fine), and it fails 2 years down the road does the recall still apply? Is there an expiration date for recalls?

So far I have had had zero issues with my rear cam
Safety recalls never have an expiration date.
I have no issues with mine either, so I don't plan on worrying about it until it fails.

It is a safety recall, hence the "S" in the number and will theoretically stay with the vehicle forever until it's completed. Ford does modify recalls from time to time and I have had experience with related damages being denied. One was 05S28 where the cruise control deactivations switch on the master cylinder would leak and cause an under hood fire. Happened to a customer so we had to get approval for repairs from special support service center. They denied and said the customer received 6 recall notices (same owner from when recall was announced until time of fire, over the span of 10 years) so they denied the repair. Insurance companies can use this as an out for denying claims if it was found the customer was negligent by not having the repairs performed.

I know of two that the customer's insurance covered and was going to try and go after Ford, never heard how that panned out. If you don't want it done, make sure you tell the dealer not to do if it's taken in for service as Ford is all over our asses to ID and fix ANY open recall that comes through the shop. We can't force people to have them done but in the majority of the cases it's better to have it done as soon as possible rather than putting it off. We live in an overly litigious world so look at it in the terms of, can I get sued if I don't.....

There are E programs for emissions, M which are part coverage extensions, multiple repairs, N coverage extension, single repair, B proactive repairs, U update prior to sale, R regional (mainly climate related), L is label or literature, K class action, V is vendor related and probably a few others I'm missing.

Not sure if this is part of the recall but my backup camera just started this last week at Supercell TN. Shaded out on the 360 camera, right side of vehicle. Only does it intermittently. Haven’t called dealer yet. This has reminded me to do so.

I had the same exact issue but on the driver's side. The camera blacked out any time the outside temperature was below freezing. I had it replaced a few weeks ago under the regular warranty, not as part of a recall.

For folks that have a tailgate tire holder that has a completely non-factory camera holder, will Ford replace it? Would they maybe exchange the camera for the owner to do the replacement work?

They did mine and I have the RTR carrier.

I sitll have Engine Valve Inpsection and Rear Shock Absorber, but the shock doesn't apply to me since I've replaced it with other shocks and I don't want the factory ones back.

Yes, they still have to perform the recall. They may just need to contact SSSC if any additional labor time is needed.

Would they maybe exchange the camera for the owner to do the replacement work?
No, they cannot do that. The work has to be completed by the dealership

Could they upgrade the camera resolution while they're at it? The current one kinda sucks.

Do open recalls affect the resale value? I assume they show up on carfax.

What if people went in reverse and used their side mirrors? Oh wait, what if people no longer know how to do that? :)

How many years have rear-view cameras been around? Ford can't get this right, either. How do you screw this up?
You buy from the cheapest supplier and squeeze them on price so that they cut enough corners...
