Not sure you will get an easy patent on a trailer hitch skid plate. way too many on the market already. Here’s one that does have a handy dandy bottle opener.

There’s a number of companies that sell some sort of a hitch mounted skid. None did exactly what I was looking for, especially when it came to extending beyond the spare tire. And I thought, I can make something better and cheaper. Our Jeep traveling companion had her tailpipes flattened to semi circles.
