I imagine it means the exact same thing for painted tops as it does for the MIC tops?

Are you wondering if it could mean Mod tops would be available sooner? I doubt it. Ford already committed to them being MY22… no sense in undoing that.

If they can get the Webasto plant into shape, leaving them MY22 would provide some breathing room. If things start going so well, that they want to bump them back into MY21, I assume that would be a decision they make once the dust settles… but we’d probably be running up against MY22 ordering at that point anyway.

I don't fully buy this theory anyways. Obviously some people will buy a Wrangler instead, but probably not so many to actually concern Ford. Like If they were actually interested in a Wrangler, they could have bought one at any point in the last 25 years.

I suspect a lot of folks who move on will get something other than a Wrangler. Like myself, I can live with the expected drawbacks on road for the extra ability off road and I will go try stuff I would not in my Subaru, but I don't need it. If I swap, it would be for a non-Wrangler as a Wrangler would not need my on-road needs at all. I believe a fairly large number of order holders are with me, as it has been pointed out, if they wanted a Wrangler, they would have one.

I would hope Ford would know the ETA of the painted tops when the 2022MY build & price comes out so folks could make an educated decision.

After seeing those Heritage edition renders a week or so ago, I'm really sold on the white top. That being said, I don't have a garage, so the ruggedness of a MIC really will serve me better.
