I was having cylinders 2 and 3 misfiring. I needed to drive it and figured out the misfiring occurred when the turbo vacuum exceeded 10psi. To avoid the misfire, I shifted manually, keeping the RPMs up around 3k when I needed to accelerate and avoiding 10psi on the turbo.

I took it into the dealer and they said it was a known issue but needed to order the parts. They didn't explain what it was. They told me it was ok to drive (sketchy to me). The parts arrived and it will be going back on Friday. I'll get more info and report back.

After over 5 weeks, I am still without my Bronco. I called the service writer today to get an update and was told they still don't have the right part for the fuel rail connection tube. Apparently, they have tried two different ones and they don't fit. It seems Ford Engineering does not have an answer.

At this point I was at the end of my patience and decided to call Ford Customer Assistance and insist they get me to someone that can get someone moving on my problem. I had to get transferred several times to get to the right person and was not going to settle for "Sorry for your Inconvenience".

I finally got to a couple of very nice ladies and one (in the Passenger Vehicle Concerns Dept.) convinced me she is going find out what is going on and is going to report back to me. She called my service writer while was on the phone to get all the information they had so she would know exactly where to go. After I hung up with her, my Service Writer called me and thanked me for calling Ford and felt it was going to help get the correct Bronco parts.

I told everybody I talked to at Ford that I knew this engine had been out a long time and there is no excuse for them to be sending my Dealer wrong parts. They should know what parts go on it. I also told them, some one or people at Ford is/are not doing their job. I never yelled at anyone but was very persistent. I sure hope that works.

I am still in wait mode though, for now.
Sucks, sorry

So what's the verdict? Have they solved the issue?

I have not updated because there has been no progress. I have called Customer Assistance several more times and get no new updates. They just tell be they are researching it. They should not have to research part numbers for engines they build.

I have gotten the phone number for the Ford Lima plant where they build the 2.7L EcoBoost engine and was going to call them Tuesday if they could help me with a part number for the fuel rail connecting tube. Then, on Saturday my service writer called me and said they had ordered a new fuel rail. I asked if they determined the one on my engine was the wrong one and he had no answer. I have no updates on the new fuel rail.

I also got the the phone number for the office of the CEO. I am sure I will not be connected with Jim Farley but I should at least be able to speak with the staff to see if they can give some pressure from a higher level to get my Bronco back on the road.

I will be calling my service writer today and if I don't hear something positive I will be using those new phone numbers tomorrow.

This really doesn't even make sense to me.
Unless Ford changed the fuel rail, which from everything I can see they didn't, changing the fuel rail isn't going to make the connecting pipe fit any better

I suspected a turbo initially because it would loose power as soon as there was any boost. It kept getting worse on the way home and when I took it to the Ford dealer I could barley get it above idle. Fortunately, it was only a couple miles to the dealer from my house.

I still don't have much confidence that the injectors are the cause but I must go along with Ford Engineering suggestions for now.

It does not make any sense to me either. Maybe they damaged it when they were trying get the tube to fit.

You should be calling a lemon law attorney instead. This is unfortunately the only way to get Ford’s attention, and you’ll be blown away how quickly things move at Ford then.

At this point your vehicle more than qualifies for a Lemon Law case. I would certainly look into that, it's worked for me twice with a 2014 C7 Corvette (full 100% refund, including tax and DMV fees) and a 2015 Audi A6. Doesn't cost you a thing and you get your full judgement as Ford will have to pay the attorney fees separately.

The Lemon law would be a last resort for me. I have too much money invested in it that I very much doubt I could recover. I would rather get the attention of the corporate level to let them know what is happening and use the Lemon law threat there.

Everybody involved with getting my Bronco going now could probably care less if I use the Lemon Law. They might like it because that would get me off of there backs.

Update...I picked my Bronco up last night from the dealer. Everything is working fine now. What did they do?

On first getting the Bronco, under warranty, they determined the O2 sensors in the catalyst system were failed and replaced them. The work order stated they needed to heat the sensors to remove them and chase the threads as they were damaged. They then road tested but the misfiring of cylinders 2 and 3 remained. They then decided to change all spark plugs and the ignition coils for cylinders 2 and 3. replacing the plugs and coils were not covered under warranty as they were considered a wear item. I currently have 68k miles on my Bronco. They said upon removal, the plugs for 2 and 3 were cracked and plugs for 1, 2, and 4 showed heavy carbon deposits. On my road test home, everything ran fine. full acceleration through the full range of Boost pressures.

I hope this helps you find a solution to your issue.

I will certainly keep that in mind but my Bronco has less than 2,000 miles on it. I doubt my Bronco would have the same issues.

I am glad to hear at least you got yours running again. I am still on hold going on 9 weeks.

After 9 full weeks at the Ford Dealer Service Dept., I finally have my Bronco back and is running great so far. I don't know exactly what was the original problem. The description for "cause" is "Incorrect fueling". I know they had a problem getting the right parts but I don't know why. There are 3 listings on the invoice for injector assy with 2 different part numbers. There are 5 listings for manifold assy (I guess that is the fuel rails) with 3 different part numbers. There are 4 listings for tube assy with 3 different part numbers. It looks like they tried several different systems and that is partially what took so long.

The total cost on the invoice to Ford is slightly over $6,000. That includes the loaner for me.

I am just happy to have my Bronco back. I was going to contact the Ford Lima plant to see if they could provide part numbers. I was also prepared to contact the office of the CEO. I am sure I would not be passed on to Jim Farley, but I am pretty sure I could speak with one of the staff to explain what I was experiencing. I may still send a letter to the office of the CEO to let them know what at least one customer had to go through after purchasing one of their product. Do I think this will make a difference? Probably not but doing nothing will definitely not make a difference.
