Could use some help/ideas for propane mounting locations on a 2 door preferably, but if you have a 4 door where the mounting location would work for me, all ideas welcome, whether or not you carry one.

I plan on a 5 lb tank in aluminum, and already have the tank cage picked out (i think) .

Possibly a spare tire cooler carrier or something similar such as this?

Bring all your ideas to the table.

UPDATE:......

I think i may have a solution for the 2 door and 4 door for this mount. It'll be utilizing largely unused space anyway and make a bit more storage room in the process.

It's the JCR offroad rear interior shelf/basket.

They make it for both the 2 and 4 door variant. The 4 door also has another shelf you can mount above the basket. It should still leave room for my fridge below and possibly make room for my Delta 3 plus in the basket above the fridge instead of next to it. Or the propane tank and other additional stuff.

Adventure Trail Gear makes a 5lb propane bag for your spare tire. I have the 10 pound and it's an extremely solid bag. They have a vinyl version, and a cloth version. Went on a 4,000 mile road trip last summer and had zero issues on and off road. Able to store hoses, and attachments in the bag.

Attaches with 3 nylon straps. Two through the spare tire, and one around the spare tire. I was a little skeptical at first, but it's super solid.

I opted away from a spare tire shelf due to the weight. Didn't want to go through upgrading the hinges ect.

It really is like going down the rabbit hole with these vehicles. You add something and have to add supports and racks and upgrades to things that double or triple the price of the original item! 😂

Nice rig though. I'll keep that option in mind. I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet and have plenty of time before my next trip.

Thanks!

Some of the hinge support upgrades have molle panels that can be used to hold a small tank.
I did look at a few of those. It looks like I'd be hitting the tail light or side of the vehicle with a tank mounted there though and possibly obscuring the tail light.

It is an option on my mind.

I've had mine mounted on a Hammerbuilt Accessory bracket. there on the rear hinges.
It will hit the light if you just fling the gate open and overcome the detents in the cylinder or open it up hanging off of the edge of the road to Pikes Peak.
Otherwise it's a gentle "touch" that causes no harm.

I also have mounted it to my Turn Off-Road setup when I had it on there (no pics of it on the PC here), same scenario, did just fine.
I've moved away from propane and propane accessories (sorry, Hank) to the 17" E-Blackstone and such, but still have two different mounts and the tank to possibly mount for showing off (or for actual use one day) if I want to on my swing-away or on the rack up top now.

Unasked for advice: The Rockslide setup @IwannaGOfast suggested is the "Easy button" best way, and the cheapest. Use it when you want, take it off when you don't.
I have one of the Turn Off-Road tire basket (cooler carrier) setups and want to sell it, as I do not use it nearly as much as I thought I would. It's not exactly light.

Hammerbuilt setup below along with a RucRak I used to mount up and also sold as it did not fit my use case and was quite bulky (would be wonderful for people who do not offroad on level 3/4 or higher trails or people who tailgate/beach-it).
Also note I had the flush-mount Oracle lights there mainly because I also feared the tank would cause damage. Once one of them died I reinstalled the factory lights and noted that it was a non-issue if you took some care and awareness opening the gate.

I got one off of ETSY that is now apparently available on Amazon for cheap:
Amazon.com: SPARKWHIZ Propane Tank Holder for 5LB Bottle 8 in Diameter, Propane Tank Mounting Bracket for RV, Trailers, Truck, Jeep : Automotive

My second one is bulkier and heavier built, a cheaper version from JC Customs that @DrillRX had pictured above. JC Customs makes the one he pictured for a bit over $200.

I purchased this mount from flame king. I had a 10 lb steel tank on it. It was fine for a three hour drive on the highway, but only lasted about an hour down the mojave trail before failing.

I definitely need to get something stronger for the way I drive in the dirt. I’m Im also looking to go to a 10 lb aluminum tank.

Thanks for the helpful advice, but...

WAY too big to go some of the places I explore. My 4 door jeep even had trouble navigating some of the switchback mining roads I've traveled to the point you can't turn the corners and have to back up every other switch back, hence the 2 door Bronco.
