I have tried finding what's available in the world and searched quite a bit through this forum and can't find an answer. The vast bulk of my offloading experience comes from my career in the Canadian Armed Forces and our heavy cargo trucks (the HLVW) used a winching system that you could winch from either end of the truck. The winch was mounted behind the rear axle and had cable guides along the frame to Re-route to the front. We always found it was a very useful feature as we didn't have to screw around with snatch block setups to self recover or pull someone out of the slop. I've been looking at winches for the Bronco and was wondering if anyone knows of any manufacturer that makes such systems you can mount on our vehicles?
Pictures of the HLVW doing it's duty below. The tires on these monsters were almost 4 feet high so the few times we did get stuck, you were F!#cking Stuck!!!! Lol!

Closest I've seen are hitch mounted winches. You get the receiver on the rear with the tow package, and there are front-bumper receivers that exist as well.

Usually I've seen those folks power the winch with glorified jumper cables.

That's an interesting concept!

I'm guessing the HLVW's had a PTO Powered winch, so they were using a take off from the Transmission or Transfer Case, And the entire affair (Winch and all the cables) was tucked up inside the frame. Even so the motor pool probably had a maintenance procedure that involved cleaning and lubing all the rollers, pulleys and fairleads on a regular basis, they probably also ran all those same procedures any time the driver reporter a water crossing or mud bath.

A consumer level system wouldn't get the needed attention a system like that gets, So 2 winches or enough snatch blocks to winch back from a front mounted winch is kinda what's the norm.

It was a PTO Operated winch but the cable rerouting system was shit simple and low maintenance other than regular lubrication. The cable routing only consisted of "U" Shaped Brackets along the frame to suspend the cable, 2 freewheeling pulleys near the spool and four roller pins on either end of the truck and that was it. Like I said it was a very useful feature. All of the moving parts were maintained with grease fittings of course but it was part of the job to keep it functional.
It looks like front mount and snatch blocks it is!!!🤣🤣🤣
