Drove from SLC to St Geroge and back after Christmas. The road noise was almost unbearable. After a couple hours we did get used to it. Once home I bought a blanket to throw between the bimini and the soft top. Amazingly this works really well. Much quieter ride. Plus if I ever get stranded I have an extra blanket. When I open the top the blanket is small enough to be tucked just about anywhere.

Gearshade bimini top and a cheap IKEA blanket.

I've definitely noticed most of my noise is from the plastic windows. But I'm having a hard time figuring out why I would not do this

Not bad but I won't be installing a Bimini top.

Road/wind noise is on par with what I expect for a soft top.

Interesting solution here.

I don't find the soft top to be that loud. Yes, it's louder than a hard top vehicle for sure, but like @amccue90 mentioned, it sounds like more noise comes from those plastic windows. I sometimes think I've left a window open in the back.

I've found after about 70 mph is really when it's noticeable. Neat idea tho.

Like others I notice cars coming up beside me from the rear more than anything else. But looking forward to not winter (in Colorado) so I can enjoy the soft top to it's fullest!

I think this could work for the hardtop as well. Any extra acoustic absorbing material will make things quieter regardless of hard or soft top. Makes me wonder if the base/big bend with carpet is quieter than MGV.

Added bonus of extra insulation as well!

Yea I did a 4 hour trip with my soft top bronco with speeds at 75/80 mph most of the way and the noise is well loud. Like I don't know if it's related but since that trip this past weekend my ear was ringing for about a day or 2

When we're talking about noise at highway speeds, we also have to consider tires and gearing. It's all cumulative. But this blanket idea seems great.

I did this also. The biggest difference I’ve noticed is it baffles the rain noise hitting rooftop directly. Also seems to reflect the heat a bit better in cab. Thanks for sharing!

I guess I don't see the point.
+3 dB is doubling of the noise level. So yeah I can see how a roof up would be significantly louder than a F-150.

But also guess the hard tops are noisy too, makes me think even less about a change to a hard top.
