My daughter and SIL recently traded an f150 Raptor AND a Black Diamond on a new Braptor. I was looking at those fender flares, and noticed they don't have the quick release fasteners, but puny screws. Really surprised.
And after driving it for five days while they were in Florida, my 2.7 Sasquatch 2dr is quicker off the line. I think they should've got a loaded Badlands, and leased an electric to save money on gas. It seems to get 14-15 mpg. I think with Mickey 37 Mud terrains and fancy wheels, we're talking around $95,000 and 84 month contract(Are you kidding me?). He does make good money in cyber security. But still...

The lack of quick release fender flares is a shame, I do wish that we got feature on the Raptors. I am not surprised that a 2 door with the 2.7 is quicker off the line, you have to look at the power to weight ratio. If you want a Bronco Raptor to go faster in a straight line, there are several options for tunes. But would the 2 door go places the Raptor can’t or vice versa? I am not an off road snob that won’t wheel with someone because of what they drive, so far I have found the Raptor to be extremely capable, but I haven’t wheeled with a stock Badlands w/ Sas. I bought the Bronco Raptor because that is what I wanted, could afford, and wouldn’t need immediate upgrades to off road. I was also considering a 392 Rubicon, but it would have immediately went under the knife for a Clayton off road lift and upgraded shocks. For me the Bronco Raptor is near perfect, for now.

Current Wrangler 392 owner looking at the Filson Edition and the Raptor. I like that the Filson will have the 3.0 (albeit slightly tuned down a bit from the Raptor), but I’m not crazy about the wheels or the interior. I’ve owned two F150 Raptors so I’m familiar with that trim. Here’s my sticking point with the BRaptor: those obnoxious fender flares. I’m curious if other Raptor owners had the same concern and what you think now after owning one. The color matched flares do help but I still find them cartoonish. Any and all feedback is welcome. Thanks!
My Marsh Gray with painted flares, in my opinion, does not look cartoonish or out of place. I had the same concerns when I first saw the Bronco Raptors, but in some colors with the painted flares I feel the flares blend in fine. I came form a Jeep Gladiator, was cross shopping the Raptor with the 392 Rubicon, and chose the Raptor. It is just so much better, the width isn’t an issue for daily driving that some think it is, but it will be noticeable on some trails and take some damage on tight trails. I am guessing that, based on your Las Vegas location, you’ll have a blast with the Bronco Raptor. Plenty of wide open desert for you to explore, plus you can get a Raptor now and might even find a good deal on a leftover ‘25.

I own a 2023 bronco with the black flares and I agreed they’re not the best looking but at least the flares are painted black. They actually have a little bit of glitter in them. They look nice up close.

The regular Bronco flares look really cheap to me non-painted will fade easy look like something you’d buy at Home Depot to put around your flowers.

But the bronco raptor rides so nice, that wide track really helps, you never really get any sway and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all. I’ve had it going 60 miles an hour over huge whoops and it’s super stable almost to the point ridiculous.

Parking in tight spots is a pain, but it has so much wheel surface area and running boards. It’s almost impossible to get a door Ding.

I don’t know about the Filson, but the bronco raptor can tow 4500 pounds if that matters to you.

Bronco raptor will probably have a better resale value as well, a lot of regular bronco owners upgrade to the raptor. The Filson is more of a shiny sideways move.

The only thing about the Filson that I like is the 3.0. My decision when wanting to move up from a Badlands SAS was between Raptor or Stroppe. I choose Stroppe. The Raptor is too wide for many trails in Colorado.

But Ford should have put the 3.0 and paddle shifters in the Stroppe . . .

I’ve owned a 4 door Outer Banks SAS 2.7, a 2 door Badlands SAS 2.7 and my current Braptor. The Braptor is absolutely the best version of the Bronco that I’ve owned. I’m now 2 years and 24,000 miles into the Braptor. I have zero plans to sell.

I find this a funny argument. Is the $95K vehicle ‘better’ than the $65K vehicle? One would hope so.

For the OP, the questions are 1) Use case, are you an off-roader? Does trail width or parking space width matter? 2) Personality? One can tone down the Braptor look with aftermarket options. But it’s still look-at-me BIG. And 3) Do you have anything better to spend the additional $20-30K on? Can’t take it with you!

I was the same, didn't like the fenders at all at first, and now I do. There's so much extra engineering that goes into the Braptor over the other models that the magic isn't just in the 3.0L motor, it's a whole lot more than that. From steering precision to the suspension/ride, handling, off road abilities, chassis modifications, etc...Ford actually did a great job in engineering the Raptor. Anyone stating they didn't buy a Raptor because of fender flares really, really, really missed the plot. I'm sure 911 purists bitched about the 930 Turbo when it was released as well.

The Raptor is the real deal where, the Filson is for someone too scared to buy an old Range Rover.

For me it was the look, the size, and the extra cost. The BL SAS is likely as over-engineered as I’ll ever need, and I live in Utah at elevation. I’m not running the Baja 1000.

Aesthetics is of course a matter of personal taste, but there’s no way I could look at that thing every day in my driveway and not feel like an idiot. But that’s me. You do you.

I’m guessing since I paid $67,500 for my Braptor, this argument has already been lost. Please feel free to look for my 2 year old post where price paid doubters needed proof of my purchase price if you too fall into that camp.

Nope, congrats on a great atypical deal! They exist. If the price was the same would I have considered the Braptor more seriously? Maybe. But it still would have likely been a no. If there was a 2DR Braptor? Now maybe yes.

Two years in on mine and I stopped seeing them within about a month. The width is the part that actually changes how you drive it — tight tree-lined trails down here make you earn every mirror. Flares were never the thing I’d change.

Pretty sure I already did me but thanks for the passive aggressive slight and your permission for me to be me. Get the cost scenario, absolutely not for everyone but there are deals to be had.

I drove a few SAS packages before purchasing the Raptor and I have zero regrets. Plus I can't see it sitting in my driveway while I'm driving it. I'm too busy grinning ear to ear behind the wheel.

It's one of the few vehicles I've owned that give me smiles day in and day out no matter what the terrain or scenario. Counting those days until it's no longer 100+ degrees outside and can pop the top off. Gets even better (and ridiculous!) in that configuration although that isn't exclusive to the Raptor as we all know.
