Finally got my 2 dr. Wildtrac and have had a set of RCI sliders to install. Just a question to someone who has done the installation. How far did you have to lower the gas tank to make the installation? Did you just loosen the tank skid plate bolts a little to lower it enough? Just a little nervous about that part of the installation, everything else looks pretty straight forward. Any installation information would be greatly appreciated.

2 or 3 inches. Held it up with the floor jack. Ran the tank super low, sun-50 miles to the gallon and it wasn’t bad at all.

the worst part of the whole install was lining up the front 3 bolt brackets. I have one that I just couldn’t get for the life of me.

I also loosened the strap… I didn’t have a skid, so I’m now realizing I’m not the right one to answer… sorry. Fwiw it’s not bad to get your arm up and around, you just need to lower the tank enough to “hug” around it, essentially.

Does WT have the gas tank skid plate like BL? I've only crawled around under my own (BL), but I gather the non-skid plate version is a little different. I just backed ~4 bolts out about 1". It was one of the easier, more straight-forward parts of the whole installation.

Yes, it has the skid plate. Just hearing the horror stories of the tank dropping off. Sounds like the skid plate would be easier than having to deal with the tank straps. I won't attempt this until I run most of the fuel out. Probably have a couple jacks under the tank skid plate for peace of mind.

I just loosened 3 of the tank skid plate bolts and had no issues getting the sliders in. I didn't worry about how much gas in the tank or anything, it was very easy.

Looking to get them on this week-end. Can I ask which skid plate bolts you had to loosen to get them on? Just a little intimidated by the instructions, was hoping for a video on-line. On my back in a dim lit garage at 72 years but not new to busting my butt!

I had these installed (20 degrees) two months ago. Love them. I got lazy and had a professional off-road shop do it for $325.

Mine arrived and installed last night, 20deg. Install was pretty straight forward, I found the
passenger side a whole lot easier because the gas tank skid plate helps to keep it in place while starting the bolts. IMO, definitely a 2 person job.

2 five gallon buckets for me, one on each end held it up just about perfect.
