I know these damn rear speakers have been a topic on several threads. I recently replaced all 6 speakers with Kicker 47KSC, 300Hz bass blockers in the front 4" speakers and Kicker Key 200.4 amp. The system sounds so much better but to me, the rear speakers sound kinda muffled. I put the fader to the rear speakers and they just sound terrible. I was hoping for crisp clear sound from the rear. But instead the rears sounds muffled. The Amp2 Gain is set low, maybe in the 8 o'clock position and the Hi-Pass Filter is set to 60Hz. I don't really want alot of bass. I just want to get a crisp clear sound from the rears? I haven't had a chance to check around yet but are there aftermarket rear pods that allow for bigger speakers like 5.5" or 6.5"? I'm thinking that might be a better option. Unless there's something else I can do to get better sound from the rear 4". Thanks guys.

I changed to Pioneer rears and no issue with the clarity with my Key. Your back speakers are just fill anyway. Rear channel is already cutting at around 250-300hz. How do you have everything wired, inputs, outputs, etc. I did find a lot with adjusting different switch settings on the Key before running DSP

Did you add an amp or just replace speakers? The oem rear speakers are limited from the factory. To my understanding you can change it in forscan or have a dealer flash it for the upgraded sound bar.

forscan change doesnt do much at all. I couldnt tell one bit of difference after changing in forscan. Honestly the rears have no effect in my cab. The sub and fronts are what I hear.

Then it would need to be flashed by a dealer. When you add the optional sound bar it has to be programmed. From what Ive read they can do that with the oem speakers too.

FWIW, the rear speakers just make the imaging and sound worse. When you go to a concert they speakers are in front of you because that’s what sounds best and also how our ears are designed.

Unless your are trying to please rear passengers, I wouldn’t waste time or money on rear speakers. IMO, That money is better spent on improving the sound coming from the front of the vehicle.

I added the Kicker Key Amp. I'm just not hearing the clearness I was expecting. Sounds like you're singing into a plastic cup when faded to the rear. When fade is centered I don't hear the rears at all.

What model of Pioneer did you go with? Amp is wired with Plug N Play wire harness. Speakers are factory wired.

Let me check. I’m not familiar with the how the plug and play kit is wired, but have you adjusted any settings on the key and have you performed the DSP setup?

This is true. I don't have rear passengers and the fronts sound awesome. I guess I expecting the same quality sound from the rear that I'm getting from the front. . I would even possible replace the Kicker rears with a different speaker but I'm no gonna throw a bunch of money into the rear speakers if there's not much benefit.

I'd appreciate you checking. If different rear speakers would sound better I'd be willing to give it a try. I did the DSP. I'm gonna go out on my lunch break soon and mess with some settings and see if that makes difference for the rears. My front's sound awesome so I don't want to sacrifices that sound just to improve the rears.

It’s Pioneer TS- G400 and they are as loud and clear as the front in my setup. I would suggest removing the bass blocker since the back is already factory limited to 250-300 hz. No need for blockers on the back channel

the head unit isn't sending a full audible range to the rear speakers. no matter what speakers you put back there, they will only provide a small range of audio. Some people swear that forscan can "unlock" full range audio but I tried and many others have without success.

Simple fix. Run new dedicated speaker wires and pull signal from the kicks.

Does anyone know if I can simply delete the rear speakers? I want to get rid of the pods because they interfere with my cargo. I have a two door with rear seats removed so the rear speakers aren't needed. Someone told me I might need to add resistors back there if I do. Anyone done this?
