Looking into upgrading the dash and speaker pods speakers. Is there anything i need to know of regarding fitment? Will pretty much any 4" speaker fit in these locations? I notice some have removeable tabs for the holes that aren't being used. I feel like this is definitely a bonus. But as far as depth of the speaker itself or how far the tweeter protrudes from the cone, is there any maximum measurements out there?

Thanks!

Most any will fit. There are some that are deep and require some special love to shoehorn in the dash (Morel Tempos, for instance), but you can make them fit if you are creative.

I ask because a site like Crutchfield has 42 4" speakers listed for sale on their site. However, when you specify Bronco fitment it knocks it down to 14. I just don't want to buy something and have it not fit only to have them be like "well, yea we told you it doesn't"

A 2lb mallet is your friend  . Actually most will fit. I use infinity reference 4 Inch. The crutchfield website will tell you that they do not fit, but it states that for any speaker that does not have "break off" tabs. Snips work just fine. Also your probably going to want bass blockers, if you are leaving them wired up with the 6.5 kick panels.

I appreciate the response! makes sense about the tabs.

Ive read mixed things about the bass blockers.

Imho, I started w/ 600hz and 150hz on the 6.5s. I felt it was too much. I settled on 300hz on the 4's, nothing on the 6.5s and filtering the key200.4 @ 80hz. That seems to work for me. If you add an amp, the full range signal, could tear up the 4s.

Those configurators are written by the same people that write the tire/wheel configurators that tell you 40" tires won't fit on a Base! :ROFLMAO:

Just look for some with a tweeter that does not protrude much past the surround of woofer.

Anything less than 43 mm (1.7 inch) should be good.

I went with the Infinity Reference 407 as well and a pair of lineman's pliers to clip off the extra tab. No bass blockers (I have B&O system) I also replaced the kick panels with Memphis MOJO Pro 6 (ridiculous efficiency rating) that made a big difference in the front fill. Also did Kicker Comp R8 in factory B&O enclosure (removed beauty ring on speaker to fit) with a Kicker Key 500.1 amp. I also used Crutchfield for my selection process and their sound comparison tool (using high quality Sennheiser over ear headphones) was a big driver in the decision - didn't like the clarity on the Kickers at all. My favorite were the AudioFrogs, but couldn't justify that much budget over the already expensive B&O option. The Infinity (been a fan for a long, long time) were my second choice - and validated by my son (adult). I am very happy with the overall results, staging, clarity and sound volume - even with doors and top off.

That is an awesome system. If I go raptor this winter I was thinking of just that, or mobridge. Are you powering everything except the sub of the B&O amp?

Yes the 5-4" speakers and 6" kicks are all running off the stock B&O. Only the sub was a separate amp. The 4" locations were so quick and easy I literally forgot to take pics.
