Thinking it might be a ton easier if I had a half rack on my Hardtop and use that to lift/remove it when needed. Anyone doing this?

I would not trust the mounting points, or the rack itself, to support the weight of the roof hanging from it. That is not the purpose those racks are designed for.

And assuming you're using some kind of overhead hoist setup with straps and hooks, it won't take much longer to run straps through the interior of the clamshell than it would to secure them to a roof rack. You'll already be in there to remove the bolts. And the roof will be much more secure when hanging from the hoist.

Thx! TbH it is an absolute pain in the ass to run straps with just one person. If I could lift with the rack and secure once its up there that would be ideal.

...so then I find this...this utilizes the factory rack mounts and no one is complaining about this not supporting the load....hmmm...

Your top it painted, .y worry is the MIC top.
Valid point. But anyway you pick up the mic top, it will probably will flex some and if that is causing the cracks,……. You are hosed. But, I thought as long as you didn’t wax them, they wouldn’t crack anyways! 😎
